Men’s Volleyball Claims Fifth Straight Win In Four Sets Over Sacred Heart

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>>Saint Francis University men's volleyball won their fifth straight match after a four set win over Sacred Heart Friday night (25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 25-14).

>>Nathan Zini led the Red Flash offensively with 16 kills and four service aces.

>>Peyton Blain had another double-digit performance in digs with 10, his third straight match with 10 or more digs. Zini and Brady Stump tallied seven apiece as well.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME 
Saint Francis took set three to go up 2-1 and went into set four with a chance to take the first match of the weekend. 

Set four saw the Red Flash take a commanding 8-2 start and extend that lead to 20-10 behind an offense that recorded 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .619. Zini had five of his 16 kills in the final set. The squad rode the momentum to a 25-14 set win.

FLASH MOMENTS
Saint Francis had a sizable lead midway through the opening set, going up 17-12. Sacred Heart rallied back with a 5-0 run and the two teams engaged in a close final serves. With the Red Flash holding a 24-23 lead going into set point, Sacred Heart's Jaron Popp tallied a service error to help give the away team a 1-0 lead.

The second set was a close affair, with Sacred Heart holding a 19-18 lead going into the final serves. They would take control of the set with a 5-1 run. A block between Dylan McClung and Carlos Santa Cruz helped the Pioneers tie the match at one, 25-21.

Set three started out with the two teams tied at 13 halfway through. The Red Flash would proceed to score three straight points and would never give up the lead. They extended their lead as high as 23-18 and went on to take a 25-20 set win.

FLASH NUGGETS
Zini is up to six straight matches in a row where he has recorded 15 or more kills.

Sam Lane racked up seven kills with a hitting percentage of .538.

Ryan Parker was an all-around threat with 33 assists, five kills, five digs, two service aces, and two blocks.

Nicholas Lynch led the team in blocks with four.
