WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>Saint Francis University men's volleyball took a straight set win to sweep the season series against Sacred Heart Saturday night (25-22, 25-9, 25-21).
>>The Red Flash had 15 service aces, the most that the team has tallied since recording 17 on March 19, 2021 against Charleston (Wv.). Ryan Parker had a career-high five.
>>Andrew Deardorff led the Red Flash in kills with 10 along with a hitting percentage of .444. He also registered three service aces.
>>Defensively, Peyton Blain had his fourth straight match with 10 or more digs with 10.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The first set was a close affair between both teams with the score being tied up five different times. With the score at 21 apiece, the Red Flash went on a 4-1 run to close out the set, 25-22. The team rode the momentum into the next two sets, claiming both to win the match.
FLASH MOMENTS
Set two was controlled by the Red Flash from start to finish thanks to an offense that recorded 12 kills, eight service aces, and a hitting percentage of .750. After getting out to a 8-5 lead, the team would outscore the Pioneers 17-4 for the remainder of the set. Nathan Zini's ninth kill gave Saint Francis the 2-0 lead, 25-9.
Sacred Heart responded with a 11-6 start to the third set. The Red Flash would answer with a 10-6 run to tie it at 16, and then would go on a 4-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. They would never give up the lead, as the squad cruised to a 25-21 set win.
FLASH NUGGETS
The Red Flash are 4-0 against the Northeast Conference after sweeping LIU and Sacred Heart.Their next set of conference matches will be Mar. 22-23 against Daeman, who is also currently undefeated in the NEC as of Saturday.
Nathan Zini had a strong outing, posting nine kills, six digs, and three service aces.
Parker and Elijah Lazor had three blocks apiece. The senior setter also recorded 25 assists for the offense.
