Men’s Volleyball Falls To No. 17 George Mason In Four Sets

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>>Saint Francis University men's volleyball dropped their match to former Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association foe and No. 17 ranked George Mason in four sets on Saturday (20-25, 19-25, 25-22, 12-25).

>>Nathan Zini led the Red Flash offensively with 16 kills. Defensively, he added six digs.

>>Elijah Lazor made an impact on offense and defense with a statline of eight kills, a hitting percentage of .538, and five blocks.

>>Peyton Blain had his fifth straight match with 10 or more digs with 11.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME 
Saint Francis took set three to cut the match deficit to 2-1. With a potential comeback on the horizon, George Mason took command in set four with a 20-9 lead. The Patriots never looked back, winning the set 25-12 to claim the match win. 

FLASH MOMENTS
The opening set saw the Red Flash get out to a 15-12 lead going into the media timeout. Out of the timeout, Saint Francis kept the advantage at 19-17 going into the final serves. George Mason would take over the set from there with a 8-1 run to help them go up 1-0 in the match, 25-20.

Set two started out with the teams exchanging points, being tied up at 10 the quarter of the way through the set. George Mason took control of the set afterwards, going on a 6-1 run and never let the lead get below three. The Patriots went on to take the set 25-19 to go up 2-0.

The third set started out with the Red Flash taking a commanding 17-8 lead. The Patriots responded to the hot start with a 13-6 run of their own to cut their deficit to 23-21. Zini denied the comeback attempt with back to back kills to help Saint Francis win set three, 25-22.

FLASH NUGGETS
Saturday's match was the Red Flash eight straight road match dating back to Feb. 2.

Nicholas Lynch had a strong day around the net alongside Lazor, tallying four blocks.

Brady Stump registering six kills, a hitting percentage of .313, and seven digs to aid Saint Francis offensively and defensively.

UP NEXT
Men's Volleyball will conclude their 10-game road stretch with a trip to Fort Valley, GA to take on Edward Waters and Fort Valley State March 5-6.
