LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis teams won all three of their combined matches on Sunday. Men's tennis defeated Le Moyne 5-2 for their first conference win, while women's tennis defeated both Le Moyne and Bloomsburg 7-0 for their second and third wins of the season. Women's tennis moved to 2-0 in the Northeast Conference with their win over Le Moyne.
Women's: Saint Francis 7, Le Moyne 0.
Doubles
The Red Flash claimed victories in all three doubles matches with 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 and 6-2. A win from the No. 3 slot marked the second consecutive win for the pairing of Kelly Dowuona and Kally Kadzinski.
Diana Zuba's win from the No. 1 slot with Valeria Vinces marks her eight doubles win on the season. Sara Jankovic and Reagen Mangan each won their seventh doubles match when they teamed up to beat the Dolphins from the No. 2 spot.
Singles
Saint Francis won all six singles contests against Le Moyne. All but the No. 1 match were won in straight sets.
Zuba's win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 slot was her 10th singles win on the season.
Dowuona's 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot improves her singles record to 8-4. The sophomore from Brampton, Ontario has won now won three singles matches in a row, and four of her last five dating back to her win against Binghamton back in October.
Mangan climbed back to .500 on the season with her 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 match.
Men's: Saint Francis 5, Le Moyne 2.
Doubles
The Red Flash took two of the three doubles matches against the Dolphins to earn the doubles point.
Those wins came from Marc Fuste and Gregory Troyan in the No. 2 spot and Alan Gonzalez and Matt Kozar in the No. 3 match. Kozar improved to 7-2 on the season in doubles action with he and Gonzalez's 6-1 win. Kozar and Gonzalez are 3-1 as a tandem.
Kozar and Troyan have each won their last four doubles matches.
Singles
Saint Francis won four of the six singles matches against Le Moyne, emerging victorious from the No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 matches.
Tyler Nguyen and Patrick Reese each hit the seven win mark with their wins from the No. 2 and No. 5 slots respectively.
Troyan was able to win his match in the No. 6 spot in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Women's: Saint Francis 7, Bloomsburg 0.
Doubles
The Red Flash claimed victories in all three doubles matches with 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1.
Dowuona and Kadzinski won from the No. 1 slot and have now won three matches in a row as a tandem. Dowuona has now won six matches in a row across singles and doubles action.
Samantha Quezada and Nagisa Miyake each earned their seventh doubles win when they teamed up for a 6-1 win from the No. 3 spot. Saint Francis now has seven players who have reached seven wins in doubles action.
Singles
Saint Francis once again won all six singles contests against Bloomsburg, making it a perfect afternoon. All six matches were won in straight sets.
Zuba's win 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 1 match marked win number 11 on the season for the October NEC Rookie of the Month.
Miyake, Quezada, Marie Discini, Mallory Thomas and Gretta Rhodes all won their first matches of the spring season. Miyake and Quezada each improved to 7-3 in singles matches on the year as whole, and Thomas improved to 6-2.
Next
Both Red Flash squads will play two matches next weekend. The men will travel to the Steel City to take on Carnegie Mellon on Friday before hosting Colgate on Sunday. The women will head to Bucknell on Friday and also host Colgate on Sunday.
