LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis teams both played inter-state matches on Friday night. The men's team won their second consecutive match in a 6-3 victory over Carnegie Mellon, while the women's team fell just short in a 3-4 tight match against Bucknell.
Men's: Saint Francis 6, Carnegie Mellon: 3. Â
DoublesÂ
The Red Flash dropped two of the three doubles matches, but saw a 6-2 victory in the No. 1 slot from Mathis Tremblay and Tyler Nguyen. Â
The pair are 4-3 on the year, and Nguyen claimed his team-best 11th doubles win of the season.Â
SinglesÂ
Saint Francis took five of the six singles matches against Carnegie Mellon to secure their second straight win. The Red Flash won from every spot but the No. 4.Â
Alan Gonzalez's 6-4, 6-3 win from the No. 3 spot was his 10th singles victory of the year, the highest mark on the team.Â
Kevin Kruzel and Gregory Troyan won the No. 5 and 6 matches respectively. Kruzel's 7-5, 6-4 win brings his record back to .500 at 6-6.Â
Women's: Saint Francis 3, Bucknell 4. Â
DoublesÂ
Bucknell claimed the doubles points with 6-1 and 6-3 wins from the No. 1 and 2 slots respectively. The tandem of Kally Kadzinski and Kelly Dowuona won their fourth consecutive doubles contest with a 6-3 victory in the No. 3 spot.Â
The pair improved to 5-2 on the year with the win, and Dowuona picked up her 10th doubles victory on the season. Kadzinski is tied for second on the team with eight doubles wins.Â
SinglesÂ
Saint Francis split the six singles matches with the Bison. Reagen Mangan, Kadzinski and Dowuona won their matches from the No. 2, 4 and 5 slots respectively.Â
Dowuona's 7-5, 6-2 win improves her record to 9-4 on the year in singles, second best on the team. The Brampton, Ontario native has now won four singles matches in a row and eight in a row combined in singles and doubles.Â
Mangan's 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win brings her record back above .500 at 7-6. The victory was her second singles win in a row.Â
Kadzinski has also won back-to-back singles matches, and six in a row combined over singles and doubles action.Â

Both Red Flash squads will play again on Sunday. The men host Colgate in Altoona at 12:00 p.m, while the women host Colgate and Frostburg State in Ebensburg at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively.Â
