LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University football has announced the hiring of
Cullen Casey to the coaching staff as the offensive line coach. Casey will join the Red Flash ahead of the spring season scheduled to start on March 19.
Â
"We are excited to add Cullen to our coaching staff. His work ethic, experience and background will help expand our knowledge and play at the offensive line position," said head coach
Chris Villarrial. "He comes from multiple programs that have a strong history of developing All-Americans and we're eager to see him develop our group. He also understands the importance of a high-quality education and the standards off the field here at Saint Francis."
Â
Casey joins the Red Flash after he spent the 2023 season at Wisconsin as an offensive line graduate assistant. With the Badgers he created weekly run game plans for the offensive coordinator, developed scouting reports and facilitated individual drills, among other responsibilities.
Â
Wisconsin went 7-6 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play during Casey's one season. The Badgers earned a bowl game, where they drew LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Â
"I am very thankful for the opportunity to join the Red Flash football family," said Cullen. "I am excited to work with the offensive players and coach Pecora. With the NFL experience coach Villarrial brings and the success at the position in Loretto, I look forward to developing the offensive line group, on and off the field."
Â
Casey spent the prior two seasons from 2021-22 at Liberty as an offensive line graduate assistant. During his time, Casey signed five offensive players in his two seasons. An FBS Independent, Liberty owned a 16-10 record during Casey's two-year stint.
Â
Prior to his time as a graduate assistant, Casey spent time as the quality control coach at Georgetown and offensive line coach at Gonzaga College High School. At Gonzaga College High School, he developed four Power Five offensive lineman – most notably Olu Fashanu who went to Penn State and is a projected top 10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Â
Casey earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Old Dominion, where he was a four-time Conference USA Honor Roll Student-Athlete on the football team. He was a 2016 Popeyes Bowl Champion with the Monarchs. Casey earned his Master of Science in Sport Administration from Liberty.
Â
Saint Francis' 15-practice spring season is set to run from March 19 to April 20. The 2024 season is set to kick off on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Dayton.
