NORTH EASTON, Mass. – The Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis teams both stayed unbeaten in conference play with wins over Stonehill. The men won 6-1 and the women won 7-0. The men are 2-0 in the NEC and the women are 3-0.
Women's: Saint Francis 7, Stonehill 0.
Doubles
The Red Flash secured the doubles point with wins from the No. 2 and 3 matches.
Diana Zuba and Kelly Dowuona won 6-1 in the No .2 match, marking Zuba's 10th doubles win of the year and Dowuona's 15th. The latter is a team-high.
Marie Discini and Gretta Rhodes claimed a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 match to lock the doubles point down. The pair each won their sixth doubles match individually and their third as a pair.
Reagen Mangan and Sara Jankovic came up just short in the No. 1 doubles match in a narrow 7-6 (8-6) defeat.
Singles
Saint Francis won all six singles matches to complete a clean sweep of the Skyhawks.
Zuba's 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (4-7), 6-0 win in the No. 1 spot was her seventh victory and improves her singles record to 18-5 on the year. Not only is that a team best mark, but it is the most in the NEC.
Mangan's 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 match was her 11th of the season and draws her back to .500 at the No. 2 position at 5-5 this season.
Jankovic won her match in the No. 3 slot 6-1, 6-3 for her eight singles win this season.
Dowuona's 6-1, 6-1 win was her 11th singles victory of year and marks the 25th singles win of her career.
Nagisa Miyake claimed a 6-3, 7-5 victory from the No. 5 match to improve her singles record to 12-4 this season, the second most on the team.
Discini's decisive 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 6 match sealed the third consecutive conference match sweep for the Red Flash and was her 7th singles win of the year.
Men's: Saint Francis 6, Stonehill 1.
Doubles
The Red Flash swept doubles play with 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2 wins. The winning pairs were Mathis Tremblay and Tyler Nguyen, Marc Fuste and Gregory Troyan, and Alan Gonzalez and Kevin Kruzel.
The win for Nguyen and Tremblay brought them back above .500 as a pair at 6-5.
Gonzalez and Kruzel also climbed over .500 with their win, now sitting at 3-2.
Nguyen and Kruzel each notched their 13th doubles win of the season against the Skyhawks. They are currently tied for the team lead.
Singles
Alan Gonzalez won his 15th singles match of the season, a team best and tied with Fairleigh Dickinson's Jorge Alfonso-Cortes for the most in the conference.
Saint Francis bested Stonehill in all but one singles match. Nguyen, Gonzalez, Tremblay, Patrick Reese and Kruzel won from the No. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions respectively.
Tremblay, Reese and Kruzel all moved above .500 in singles play on the season with their victories, moving them to 7-6, 8-7 and 9-8 respectively.
Alan Gonzalez's five match win streak came to an end against George Mason and marked his first loss since Feb. 4.
Tyler Nguyen won his 11th singles match of the season and is now 5-2 from the No. 2 spot this year.
