FLASH MOMENTS
The opening set started out with a 5-5 tie. The Red Flash would proceed to go on an 8-1 run to make it 13-6, giving them a lead they'd never relinquish. The defense held the Nittany Lions' offense to a -.120 hitting percentage, as it led the team to a 25-17 set win.
Set two would be a tightly-contested duel that saw the two teams tied seven different times. With the score tied at 22, Saint Francis went on a 3-1 run with the help of kills from Andrew Deardorff and Sam Lane. A Toby Ezeonu service error helped give the Red Flash a 2-0 lead, 25-23.
The Nittany Lions got out to a 19-15 lead to start out the third set, but Saint Francis responded with a 4-1 run to tie it at 20 apiece. Penn State retaliated with a 4-0 spurt to go up 24-20. The Red Flash scored three straight points to hold off set point, but the blue and white's John Kerr recorded a kill to help take their first set, 25-23.
Set four started out close, with Penn State having a slim 12-11 lead. That would be the closest it would be for the rest of the way, as the Nittany Lions went on a 13-4 run to take full control. Kerr posted another kill for set point to tie the match at two sets apiece.
FLASH NUGGETS
Andrew Deardorff added 11 kills, four digs, and two service aces. As a team, the Red Flash had 54 kills overall.
Nicholas Lynch had himself an all-around statline of a career-high eight blocks and six kills.
Ryan Parker registered 43 assists, putting him at 1,956 for his career. He is now 44 away from reaching 2,000.
