Softball Takes Both Games of Conference Opening Doubleheader Against Le Moyne

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball earned two walk-off victories 4-3 in eight innings and 11-3 in five innings over Le Moyne in the opening day of Northeast Conference games.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Olivia Ulam went 5-for-8 with two runs scored, one double and two RBIs.
» Savannah Nash went 3-for-6 with three runs scored a d a three-run home run.
» Madelyn Wilson hit a walk-off solo home run in the game one victory.
» Grace Vesco (6-6) went 8.0 innings and allowed three runs on three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
» Rachel Marsden (8-5) went 5.0 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
» Eight Red Flash players had at least two hits in both games combined. Seven players hit .333 or higher during the doubleheader.
 
TURNING POINTS OF GAME ONE
» Saint Francis was on the board early with a two-run Lexi Hernandez double in the first. Le Moyne responded with an RBI single on a bunt in the third inning and cut the deficit to 2-1.
» Ulam got Saint Francis another two-run lead in the fifth with an RBI single that drove home Kaylie Walters.
» In the seventh inning, Le Moyne scored a run on a ground and tied the game with two outs on a wild pitch.
» After Saint Francis blanked Le Moyne in the top of the eighth, Wilson hit a walk-off home run on the first pitch of the bottom half.
 
TURNING POINTS OF GAME TWO
» Le Moyne led off the second game with a run scored on a Red Flash error and took a 1-0 lead in the first.
» Ashley Orischak hit an infield single that drove home Annabelle Farmer and tied the game 1-1 in the second. Le Moyne regained a one-run lead after a run was scored on an infield single in the third.
» Nash gave Saint Francis the lead with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third, followed by a bases-loaded walk from Walters, that opened a 5-2 lead.
» Le Moyne cut into its deficit with an RBI single, as Saint Francis still led 5-3 in the fifth.
» In the bottom half, Lauren Aubry started the scoring on a wild pitch, followed by a Ulam RBI single that opened a 7-3 lead.   
» Hernandez drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Ulam scored on the same play to open a 9-3 lead. Nash followed with a run on a wild pitch before Farmer drove in Aliya Garroway to clinch Saint Francis' walk-off run-rule victory.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
» Ulam moved up to second in program history with 1,063 putouts in her collegiate career. She is 11 putouts shy of breaking Taylor Darneille's program record of 1,073 set from 2010-13.
» Farmer earned her first-career three-hit performance in the game two victory. She added her second double of the season.
» Nash hit her second home run of the season and raised her conference-leading RBI total to 20.
» Vesco earned the 60th win of her collegiate career.
