Red Flash Bowling Picks Up Votes in April NTCA Poll

The Saint Francis University bowling team received votes in the latest national rankings, as the National Tenpin Coaches Association polls slot the Red Flash as the 29th-best college bowling program in the country.

The rankings come shortly after the conclusion of the national championships for both the NCAA and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). The NCAA tournament concluded with unanimous No. 1 team Jacksonville State claiming the title in their first season, while Wichita State picked up the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) on Saturday.

The Red Flash (47-53, 11-10 NEC) finished the season at the Northeast Conference postseason tournament, where they fell to conference champion Merrimack in their second consecutive conference postseason appearance. This marks the fourth time in five polls that they received votes, and the first time since February, they were mentioned in at least one of the 35 ballots.

The 2023-24 edition of the NEC has five ranked teams in the postseason top 25, led by No. 10 Duquesne, while Saint Francis sits as the sixth NEC team recognized in the polls. Mercyhurst University, a new NEC member for the 2024-25 season, picked up votes along with the Frankies, as the Lakers were slotted as the 26th-best team in the nation. The DII/III Polls, which recognize the top 15 non-DI programs, have the future conference foe ranked sixth.

As for the rest of the rankings, Jacksonville State claimed the top spot with all 35 first-place votes, tightening their grip on the top spot entering their second season as a program. Youngstown State finished the season ranked third, while preseason No. 1 Vanderbilt concluded the season in the fifth spot. No. 2 Arkansas State and No. 4 North Carolina A&T State round out the top five.
