Softball Prepares for Final Road Conference Series at Wagner

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball has its final road conference series of the 2024 season April 27-28 at Wagner. Saint Francis enters the weekend with an 18-0 conference record.
 
Saint Francis Quick Hits
» Lexi Hernandez has recorded three multi-hit games in a row and has four runs scored and six RBIs during the stretch. She has six home runs in the last 11 games and has at least one home run in four consecutive conference series.
» Savannah Nash is the reigning Northeast Conference Player of the Week and is on an eight-game hitting streak. She has 13 RBIs in the last seven games. Overall, Nash is tied for second in the NEC with 32 runs scored and 35 RBIs.

Last Time Out
Saint Francis took Penn State to extra innings but fell in the ninth 3-2. The Nittany Lions took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Red Flash throwing error and added another run in the fifth inning on a fielder's choice. With two outs in the top of the seventh inning and two runners on base, Hernandez hit a game-tying two-run double off the left field wall. After a scoreless eighth inning and top of the ninth, Penn State scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch. Four different Red Flash players reached base at least twice in the game.
 
Scouting Wagner
The Seahawks hold an 8-24 overall record and are 3-12 in conference play with two wins over Stonehill and one win over Le Moyne. Wagner has lost nine of its last 10 games heading into this weekend's series. Sydney Chargualaf leads the program with a .300 batting average, three home runs and she adds nine RBIs. Payton Janicki leads Wagner with 15 runs scored and 17 RBIs. Karson Zavala holds a pitching staff-leading 5.27 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 97.1 innings pitched. Wagner hits .244 as a team and has a 5.19 staff ERA.
 
All-Time vs. Wagner
Saint Francis owns a 40-26 all-time advantage over Wagner since the first meeting in 1987, which was a 7-4 Seahawks' win. Wagner won the most recent meeting in last season's series finale 5-3 that snapped a 21-game Saint Francis winning streak between 2015-23. Saint Francis won 25-of-26 meetings between 2012-23 prior to Wagner's win last season.  
 
Around the NEC
Saint Francis (18-0) swept its series against FDU (5-13) to earn at least a share of the NEC Regular Season title and clinched home field for the NEC Tournament. LIU (12-6) took a midweek series sweep over Wagner (3-15) and moved to a second-place tie in the NEC standings. Sacred Heart (14-7) took a series victory over Central Connecticut (11-10) to remain in a tie with LIU at a .667 winning percentage. Merrimack (11-7) lost its most recent conference series to Central Connecticut last weekend. Le Moyne (5-10) defeated Wagner twice in its three-game series last weekend. Stonehill (2-13) was idle from conference play last weekend. This weekend, Stonehill visits FDU, LIU visits Merrimack, Le Moyne visits Sacred Heart and Saint Francis visits Wagner.
