Track & Field Tallies 13 Event Victories at Red Flash Open

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>> Saint Francis track and field hosted the Red Flash Open at the Father Bede Track and the Saint Francis Throws Field on Saturday.

>> The teams combined for 13 event victories and 46 top-five performances.

>> The mixed 4x400 relay team of Jaelyn Cole, Sarah Colman, Peyton Myers and James Parmalee took first with a time of 3:50.86. 

>> The senior day ceremony before the meet saw 17 athletes and their families get recognized for the contributions they have made to the program.

>> Results

FLASH WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD NUGGETS
The women's team recorded five first place finishes and 26 top-five finishes.

The women's 4x100 relay team consisting of Brooke Long, Sydney Rush, Paige Drake and Gabriella del Pielago finished first with a time of 48.93.

Drake took first in the long jump as well with a personal-best mark of 5.35m.

Rush also took home a second event victory, placing first in the 100m with a time of 12.31.

In the field events, Marie-Therese Cooper finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.60m.

Marlena Jacobs took first in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.55m.

FLASH MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD NUGGETS
The men's team racked up seven event victories and 20 top-five performances.

The 4x100 relay team of Bryce Baker, David Niang, Jadon Kendrick and Julian Saunders took first with a season-best time of 41.57.

Along with the 4x100 relay victory, Saunders tacked on two more first-place finishes as well. The sprinter finished first in the 100m with a time of 10.68. He followed that performance up with a time of 21.71 in the 200m to take first.

Another member of the relay team, Niang, took first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.43.

John Flynn Jr. took first in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking in a season-best time of 9:44.86.

Ethan Stroup placed first in javelin with a mark of 54.67m.

Joseph Piccirillo crossed the finish line in first place during the 3000m run with a time of 9:12.37.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash will compete in the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at New Britain, CT May 4-5.
