Morgantown, W.Va.- Saint Francis men's soccer are set for their prime time matchup with No. 3 West Virginia on Monday Aug. 26. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff and will be the first game against an opponent ranked in the top five in program history.
Saint Francis So Far In 2024
Saint Francis enters the contest at 1-0-0 after a resounding 3-0 win on the road against St. Bonaventure on Aug. 22. The win extended the longest unbeaten run in program history to 16 matches.
Joschi Schelb netted a brace for himself against the Bonnies and assisted on Fabian Wagner's goal as well. Schelb's five points in the opener was the most to open a season since Troye Kiernan tallied six in 2017.
Wagner sits at two points after doubling the Red Flash lead against St. Bonaventure.
Alex De Nittis and Rodrigo Mendes each assisted on a goal for their first career and Division I points respectively.
Niclas Becker recorded a clean sheet and made four saves in his Saint Francis debut.
The Word on West Virginia
The Mountaineers enter the contest at 1-0-0 after defeating Purdue Fort Wayne 4-2 in their opener on Aug. 22.
Sergio Ors Navarro netted a hat trick against the Mastodon to race out to six points.
Simon Carlson tallied two assists for two points. Felix Ewald scored a goal of his own to claim two points as well.
Marc Bonnaire made three saves for the Mountaineers on the night.

Saint Francis and West Virginia last met on Sep. 13, 2018 in a 3-1 Mountaineers win.
Gabriel Castro netted the lone Red Flash goal. Leonardo Ribeiro assisted on the goal.

The Northeast Conference got off to a good start on matchday one of 2024. Saint Francis, FDU, Le Moyne and LIU all won their season openers. Six NEC teams are in action on Sunday Aug. 25, while Saint Francis, FDU and Howard all play on Monday Aug. 26.
