Sacramento State dominated in the third set. Kills by
Kori McClure and
Ava Holden kept the score close at 12-9 before an eight-point run by the Hornets gave them a wide lead that the Red Flash could not get out from under.
FLASH MOMENTS
Down 20-15 in the first set, the Red Flash fought hard to keep the set close. A block by
Laney Wilson and
Drew Wallech started the run. After an error by the Hornets, Wallech scored with a hard kill from the middle, causing Sacramento State to take a timeout. Coming out of the break, Hogan tallied a kill to make it a 20-19 score before the Hornets ultimately won the set.
Saint Francis mounted another late comeback in the second set. After an error by Sacramento State, Hogan tallied a kill and an ace. The Hornets earned a kill for a 23-19 score, but Saint Francis went on a four-point run to tie the set. Defense was on display with a block by Burns and Holden, with a Sacramento State error forcing them to take a timeout. After another error by the Hornets, a block by Burns and Wallech tied the set, but Saint Francis errors gave Sacramento State the two-set lead.
FLASH NUGGETS
Emma Fenton and
Alexandra Sappia tied with 12 assists to lead the Red Flash.
Hogan led the team with three aces and nine digs.
Burns and Wallech each had three assisted blocks, the most for Saint Francis.
