Michael Switala answered quickly to put Canisius back in front just two minutes later.

A.J. Zarcone scored from a corner kick to tie things up at three in the 85th minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The two sides traded chances in the early goings of the match.

The first breakthrough came in the 20th minute via a penalty that was called on a bang-bang play between a Canisius player and Risenhoover inside the box.

After Canisius went in front, Wagner tried to level the match in the 29th minute but could not convert the chance.

Wagner had another chance in the 32nd minute but was denied by Canisius goalkeeper Jack Petrie. Schelb tried to put the rebound home but was denied by both Petrie and the post.

Schelb had another go at goal just five minutes later but was denied again.

Schelb evened the score with a gorgeous strike from roughly 20 yards out, tucking it into the top right corner of the net. A feed from Louden created the opportunity.

Canisius answered just two minutes later on a shot that ricocheted off of a Saint Francis defender and past Risenhoover.

Mendes found another equalizer just under two minutes after that when he placed a low shot in the back of the net.

Coming out of the break, Wagner had an excellent chance to put Saint Francis in front that was denied by an even better diving save.

Mendes attempted to put the Red Flash in front with a chance in the 56th minute but sent it wide to the right.

Wagner stayed hot and put Saint Francis up for the first time in the contest with a goal in the 69th minute. Rigby and Mendes assisted on the go-ahead goal.

Wagner nearly made it a brace for himself in the 74th minute but hooked the shot left.

Schelb almost scored a fourth goal for Saint Francis in the 80th minute with a shot that just missed to the left.

In the 84th minute, Canisius had an excellent opportunity that was broken up by an excellent slide tackle from Connor Oechslin

Canisius leveled the match on the ensuing corner kick.

Rigby nearly found the winner in the 86th minute on a cracking volley that was only denied by a spectacular save.

Oechslin shut down a three-on-one Canisius counter attack with yet another brilliant slide tackle in the 88th minute.

The Red Flash had five corners in the final four minutes but could not generate the winner from any of them.

FLASH NUGGETS

Wagner made it three consecutive matches in which he has scored. The last time a Saint Francis player did that was also Wagner in matches against Howard, Sacred Heart and St. Bonaventure from Nov. 2, 2023 to Aug, 22, 2024.

Schelb and Mendes have both netted a goal in back-to-back games for the Red Flash. It is the second time this season a Red Flash player has accomplished that feat. Wagner scored goals against Robert Morris and Bucknell on Sept. 4 and Sept. 7.

It is the first time in program history that the exact same three players all scored in back-to-back matches.

Mendes set a career-high for points in a match with three from his goal and assist on the day. It is also the first time in his collegiate career that he has registered both a goal and an assist.

Louden's assist was the first assist and point of his career.

Risenhoover recorded a career high for saves in a match with four. It marks the fourth consecutive outing in which Risenhoover has either tied or matched his career-high total for saves in a match.

Oechslin, and Álvaro Planas made their 2024 debuts. It was Kierzkowski's collegiate debut.
