TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis picked up early control during the third set of the night, going on a 7-3 run. Alyssa Irwin collected a kill down the middle from Alexandra Sappia followed by a Gwen Atkins service ace. Sappia found both Paloma Gonzalez Jaramillo and Irwin for another kill each to spark Korrin Burns on back-to-back-to-back kills. The Red Flash kept its lead and pulled ahead thanks to a huge solo block from Kori McClure and a kill from Irwin to take set three. Saint Francis never looked back and claimed the game 3-1.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash started off slow but quickly found its groove early in the first set. After being down 7-3, Gonzalez Jaramillo swung at a high ball to earn herself a kill and give McClure an assist. Gonzalez Jaramillo found two more beautiful set ups but this time it was from Sappia and Hailey Atkins. After two attacking errors by the Chargers, Saint Francis tied the set eight all. Saint Francis fought back to take the lead 21-20 and continued to go on a 5-1 run to close out the set. Help came from a McClure kill, three Burns kills, and an Alexa Chapla ace.
Saint Francis did not lose focus in the fourth set, taking the lead 4-0. Gwen Atkins kept fueling the fire with a kill set up by Sappia. Chapla tossed up an assist for Burns to slam down. Sappia continued on the offensive end with a service ace of her own. The Red Flash increased its lead with a 6-2 run, running off several errors by the Chargers. Amongst the errors, Burns and McClure both registered another kill in their columns. New Haven fought back to stay within single digits, but Saint Francis was not fazed. Burns ended the night on a kill set up by Sappia.
FLASH NUGGETS
Burns, the four-time NEC Player of the Week and NEC Prime Performer, finished the evening with 21 kills, nine digs, two solo blocks, and two aces.
McClure, the current NEC Player of the Week, registered seven kills, three blocks, three assists.
Gwen Atkins, the three-time NEC Rookie of the Week, added seven kills and four digs.
Alter had seven digs.
Sappia finished the match with 40 assists, six digs, and two kills. Sappia has earned NEC Prime Performer distinction each week of the 2025 season.
Chapla had nine digs and threw in three service aces.
Gonzalez Jaramillo collected nine kills.
Irwin recorded seven kills on the night.
