Following another shutout weekend, junior goalkeeper
Mia DiGenova (King of Prussia, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) of the Saint Francis field hockey team received her third NEC Defensive Player of the Week award and her sixth NEC Prime Performer honor this season.
This is just the 10th time in Saint Francis' field hockey history that a player has received NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The other recipients to earn this recognition were goaltenders Chloe South in 2021,
Amber Bryan in 2023, and current teammate, senior defender
Madison Waldspurger, earlier this month. DiGenova, who set a program record with nine shutouts this season with her shutout against Mercyhurst on Sunday, has won the destinction a program-record four times.
Along with DiGenova, sophomore forward
Kylee Hager and sophomore midfielder
Sofia Marciano received NEC Prime Performer honors. Hager netted two goals on Sunday, and Marciano tallied her second hat-trick of the season, increasing her season total to 16 goals. This ranks third for the most goals scored in a single season.
Saint Francis, who clinched a spot in the upcoming NEC Tournament, will play its last two regular-season games on the road, starting at New Haven on Friday at 12 p.m.
