 GAME PREVIEW (VIDEO)
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saturday's game between Saint Francis and Robert Morris marks the 29th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1994 campaign.
• The Colonials lead the series 18-9-1, but the Red Flash had won seven-straight games before the Robert Morris current three-game winning streak. The Colonials hold an 8-5 mark at DeGol Field in the series despite Saint Francis taking four of the last five tilts in Loretto.
• Saint Francis has finished in a tie 14 times in program history, including six times since the football team returned in 1969. The last time the Red Flash ended in a standstill was a 14-all result against Robert Morris on October 29, 1994.
• Under head coach
Chris Villarrial, the Loretto program is 10-5 after a bye week. The Red Flash is 4-2 at home after a bye. The last time Saint Francis played a game at home after a bye was a 31-7 win against Wagner on a nationally televised game on a Thursday night (October 12, 2023). One of the team's biggest wins in program history came after a bye when the team defeated No. 22 Liberty 13-7 on September 30, 2017.
• It may be hard to believe that Saint Francis has had at least five home games in the last 35 years, since in the last three years the team had three games at DeGol Arena twice (2022, 2024) and four contests once (2023). The Red Flash will have a four-game homestand for the fourth time in that stretch and the first time since the 2004 season. The team also hosted four consecutive games in 2002, 1999, and 1997, while it had three consecutive home contests eight times in the last 35 years. The most consecutive league games the team hosted were three in 1999.
• Saint Francis is looking for its first win of the season in its seventh week of competition, for the first time since the 2008 campaign, and could pick up its first win in the seventh game since 2007. That season, the Red Flash won three of its last four games, all in NEC play.
• After spending the first three weeks of the season traveling 3,403 miles round-trip, starting on September 14, the Red Flash will spend the next 70 days in the state of Pennsylvania. The team will play five games at DeGol Field, two road games, and have two byes in this stretch before its regular season finale at Stonehill on November 22. Saint Francis traveled to Lousiana-Monroe (2,209 miles), Buffalo (421 miles) and CCSU (773 miles in the first 16 days of the season, but will only travel 1,524 miles in the final 71 days of the season round trip: at Bucknell, September 27 (260 miles); at Duquesne, October 11 (157 miles) and Stonehill (1,107 miles).
• To put these 71 days in perspective, the first day of fall is September 22, two days after the Red Flash home opener, while the team will not be on the road again until five days before Thanksgiving. The Saint Francis men's basketball team will play more road games between now and the football trip to Massachusetts, with three, and the defending NEC Champions do not open the season until November 4.Â
AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the team's first win of the season
• End a three-game losing streak to the Colonials
• Be the team's fifth win in the last six meetings in Loretto against Robert Morris
• Be the latest in the season the team picked up its first win of the year since winning 35-30 on October 27, 2007, which prompted the team to win three of its last four games
ON THIS DATE
• This will be the ninth game on this date and the first since 2014
• It will be the eighth time in nine games Saint Francis will play a game at home on this date
• Saint Francis is 4-4 on this date
