Kori McClure (Westerville, Ohio./Westerville North), a member of the Saint Francis women's volleyball team, has been named the NEC/Molten Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
McClure capped off the weekend with an impressive 26 kills, aiding Saint Francis to a strong second week in conference play with a 2-0 record. She averaged a hitting percentage of .727. In addition to her powerful offense, she contributed significantly on defense, recording 11 blocks to help secure the team's victories against Stonehill. During the second game, McClure recorded a career high of eight blocks to help the Red Flash force the game into five sets and take the win. She was also named to the NEC first-team during the 2024 season.
This is the 33rd time that a Red Flash women's volleyball player has won Player of the Week, and McClure is the 12th different player to earn the distinction.
McClure and Alexandra Sappia were both named Prime Performers. Sappia racked up a total of 80 assists over the weekend, including an impressive 44-assist effort in the Red Flash's victory over Stonehill. She also contributed 13 digs, five service aces, and four assisted blocks across both matches. With these performances, Sappia has now recorded eight games this season with 40 or more assists. Sappia joined the 2,000-assist club on a set up to for a kill late in the third set. She is the fifth player in program history to reach that milestone.
Saint Francis continues its conference play as it heads back to Connecticut to face New Haven this Friday and Saturday.
