After tying the single-game program record with five made field goals, kicker
Mac Plummer, a member of the Saint Francis football team, has been named the NEC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 11. It is the second time in his career that he has earned the distinction.
Plummer made five field goals, including two in the fourth quarter, to give the Loretto program the lead. The five field goals tied a program record for most field goals in a game. Trailing 10-9, Plummer gave the Red Flash a 12-10 lead on a 20-yard field goal with 7:48 left in the game, and was good from 25 yards to extend the lead to 15-10 with 97 seconds left. Plummer was good from 28 yards (10:51, first quarter), 34 yards (5:11, first quarter), 26 yards (0:00, second quarter), and his two field goals in the fourth quarter. The redshirt senior came into the game with four made field goals in the first eight games of the season before his program-record-tying performance. The redshirt senior is now 22-for-33 in his career on field goal attempts. Alex Schmoke was the last player to have five field goals in a game against Merrimack on November 13, 2021, while Lance Geesey is also in the five-field-goal club with five against CCSU on November 7, 2015.
Plummer becomes the third player to garner a top NEC weekly award in 2025.
Geno Calgaro was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week after his play in the first week of the season, and then
DJ Maultsby received the NEC Rookie of the Week distinction in the fifth week of the season.
Plummer is one of six kickers to earn NEC Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Adam Sciulli (three times), Geesey (six times), Trevor Thompson (twice), and Schmoke (three times). Along with this week, Plummer earned the honor on September 9, 2024, after he made three field goals, including a career-best 50-yard field goal and two extra points in a 23-17 win against Kent State for the team's first-ever victory against an FBS program on September 7, 2024.
Plummer is one of 16 players in Red Flash history to earn NEC Special Teams Player of the Week for a total of 36 times. Under head coach
Chris Villarrial, a player has earned this distinction 31 times.
Saint Francis returns to action with its final home game of the season against LIU. Game time is 12 p.m. The Red Flash will honor 12 seniors, including Plummer, before the game.
