SELECT GAME NOTES VS. LEHIGHÂ (FULLÂ GAME NOTES PDF)
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Tuesday's game between Saint Francis and Lehigh marks the 22nd meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1969-70 season.
• The Mountain Hawks lead the series 12-9 and 6-3 at Stabler Arena, but the Red Flash have won four of the last five, and six of the last nine in the matchup.
• The Red Flash has won the last two in Bethlehem and is looking to win three consecutive in the series for the first time since the first three meetings in the series (1969-70, 1976-77, 1977-78).
• The last time the two teams played in the Lehigh Valley, Rob Krimmel registered his 150th career win. Another win at Lehigh would be head coach
Luke McConnell's first win as a head coach.
• Lehigh is the only team on the schedule this season that was also a non-conference game for Saint Francis when McConnell joined the Red Flash coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2013-14.
NOTE: Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris are both on the 2025-26 schedule
and were on the 2013-14 schedule, but both the Mount and the Colonials were members of the NEC that season.
• Saint Francis is 30-42 against the Patriot League and 10-24 on the road. The Frankies have won 12 of the last 19 against the Patriot League.
• As a coach on the men's basketball staff, McConnell was 14-14 against the Patriot League and 5-9 on the road. While McConnell is looking for his win as a head coach, his first win as a collegiate coach, not head coach, was a 60-57 win against Navy on November 11, 2013,
at the War Memorial in Johnstown as a graduate student on Krimmel's staff.
• With a win, McConnell would become the seventh head coach to win his first game against a Pennsylvania team, joining Dr. William "Skip Hughes (Alliance), John Clark (at Duquesne), Kevin Porter (Lock Haven), Pete Lonergan (Pitt-Johnstown), Jim Baron (Slippery Rock), and Don Friday (Bucknell). He would also be the 10th head coach to earn a win in the state of Pennsylvania after Dave Magarity (St. Michael's), Bobby Jones (Morehead State), and Krimmel (CCSU) won their first game at home.
• A win in the next three games would give McConnell his first win on the road and would join Clark and his father, Tom (at Buffalo), as the only head coaches since 1945-46 to have his first win as a head coach take place on the road.
• This game at Lehigh is the closest road game on the schedule for the Red Flash this season, despite being separated by 230 miles, while a trip to Temple on December 14 is the next closest at 244 miles from the two campuses. Last year, Penn State (63 miles), Robert Morris
(95 miles), Mount St. Mary's (143 miles), University of Maryland (182 miles), and Georgetown (189 miles) were all on the Red Flash schedule on the road.
• Saint Francis heads to the Sunshine State for the first of two trips to Florida when the Red Flash plays in the Coconut Hoops tournament in Fort Myers, Florida. The Frankies will face Belmont on November 24 and either Toledo or Troy on November 26. The Red Flash will return to the state of Florida to face the defending national champion University of Florida on December 17. The game with the Gators will also end a stretch of seven road contests in nine games.
AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the team's first win of the season
• Be the third-consecutive win against Lehigh and the third-straight victory at Stabler Arena
• Give first-year head coach Luke McConnell his first win at the helm against the Patriot League, which was also the league he won on the Red Flash sideline for the first time as a coach (Navy, 2012-13) when he was a graduate assistant
• Start a three-game road trip with a victory
ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
• Lehigh comes into the contest 1-3 after falling 84-72 at Rutgers on Friday. The Mountain Hawks were 11-19 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League last season.
• Nasir Whitlock powered the Mountain Hawks against the Scarlet Knights with 21 points. Joshua Ingram (14 points) and Hank Alvey (12 points) also reached double figures.Â
• Whitlock leads the team with 13.2 points per game, while Andrew Urosevic is ranked second with 13.0 points per game, and Ingram is third with 12.0 points per game. Alvey is the top rebounder for Lehigh with 7.2 rebounds per game.Â
LAST TIME WE MET
• Aided by two big shots by Bobby Rosenberger III and Riley Parker, Saint Francis closed the game on a 10-0 run to defeat Lehigh 88-78 on November 26, 2024
• Parker posted a career-high 23 points, while Rosenberger added 21 points, one off his career best. Juan Cranford, Jr. added 11 points.
• Tyler Whitney-Sidney paced the Mountain Hawks with 21 points, while Keith Higgins, Jr. (18 points) and Cam Gillus (15 points) also found double figures.
LAST TIME OUT
• Saint Francis made its 2025-26 DeGol Arena debut against a familiar foe in Mount St. Mary's. The Red Flash lost to the Mount, 74-66 on November 11.
• Zion Russell registered a career-high 23 points, while Skylar Wicks added his first double-double in a Saint Francis uniform with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
TRENDING UP
• Redshirt senior Zion Russell registered his first career 20-point game in his DeGol Arena debut with his 23-point effort. The graduate student, who had a then-career-high 15 points against Oklahoma on November 3, averaged 12.5 points per game last season with Niagara against Mount St. Mary's, including 14 points, which was his previous high before Oklahoma. Russell has 15 career 10+ points games. The last time a Saint Francis player reached 20 points in consecutive games was when Riley Parker turned the trick against FDU (February 22, 2025) and Chicago State (March 1, 2025) to end the 2024-25 regular season.
• Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks averaged 19.0 points per game in his first two games, including 20 points at Oklahoma in the season opener. The redshirt senior recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds for his seventh career double-double and his first since tallying 19 points and 11 rebounds against Lamar on February 12, 2024. It was also his 26th double-figure point performance. Wicks is looking to post a double-double in consecutive games for the first time in his career. Wicks looks to become the first Red Flash player to have back-to-back double-doubles since Valentino Pinedo turned the trick against Chicago State (March 1, 2025) and against Wagner (March 8, 2025) in the NEC Quarterfinals.
• After head coach Luke McConnell had the same starting five against Oklahoma and TCU, the first-year head coach switched out three starters against Mount St. Mary's. Russell and Wicks have started all three games, while redshirt senior Cam Tweedy, senior Ahmad Harrison, and sophomore Ralph Martino, Jr. joined the starting lineup for the first time in a Saint Francis uniform. Four-fifths of the starting line in the last game are all from the DMV and had a previous connection to Associate Head Coach Devin Sweetney, who was a standout high school player in the DMV at Riverdale Baptist.
• For the first time in 13 games, senior Chris Moncrief missed a game. Moncrief was, some might say, the key to the 2025 NEC Tournament run. Moncrief helped the Red Flash to an 8-3 record when he joined the starting lineup last year, including winning six straight before the NCAA First Four. He averaged 10.0 points per game in that stretch and is averaging 8.7 points per game in her last 12 contests.
AGAINST THE KEYSTONE
• Tuesday's game against Lehigh marks the first of six games against fellow teams from the Keystone State this season.
• Saint Francis will also travel to Temple (December 14) and Mercyhurst (February 5), while the Red Flash will welcome Penn State Shenango (December 3), Robert Morris (December 20), and Mercyhurst (February 14) to Loretto.
• The Red Flash is 233-215-1 all-time against teams from the Keystone State and 49-97 since joining the NEC. The Loretto program is 13-59 on the road against the Commonwealth since joining the NEC.Â
• Saint Francis has played the most games against teams from the western part of the state in program history. The Red Flash has tangled with Robert Morris more than any other team in the state, with 93 meetings. Duquesne has been on the squad 75 times, Saint Vincent 65 times, Westminster 43 times, Geneva 39 times, and Pittsburgh 30 times.
ON THIS DATE
• Saint Francis is 3-2 on this date, including 1-2 on the road.
• Behind 10 points and 22 rebounds by Eric Taylor, the Red Flash defeated Norfolk State 70-45 on this date in 1997. Sotiris Aggelou led Saint Francis with 19 points, while Emmanuel Adekunle added 15 points for the Flash.Â
 FUN FACT...
• Saint Francis has played three games against the state of Virginia on this date against Norfolk State (1997), Longwood (2017) and Virginia Tech (2021). It will be the second time the Red Flash will face a fellow Keystone State team after the Frankies defeated Loch Haven 94-60 to open the 2006-07 campaign.Â
• The win against the Bald Eagles was current Saint Francis associate head coach Devin Sweetney's first collegiate game and he finished with 22 points.
