FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Wednesday's game between Saint Francis and Troy marks the first meeting in the all-time series.
• The Red Flash is 3-3 against the Sun Belt Conference with the last meeting being an 80-45 loss at Western Kentucky on December 20, 2002. The Hilltoppers also defeated the Frankies in 1984-85 in Bowling Green, but left the Sun Belt in 2014.
• This season marks the 35th Anniversary of the 1991 NEC Tournament championship team, and Saint Francis played two teams from the Sun Belt on back-to-back days at the Jaffa Mosque in Altoona that season. Saint Francis lost 71-68 to Alabama-Birmingham on December 22, 1990, before defeating VCU 82-71 the next day. Those two games were the penultimate non-conference games before the Frankies went 13-3 in  NEC play on their way to winning their first tournament title. Both the Blazers and Rams would leave the Sun Belt after that season.
• Saint Francis also went 1-1 against UNC Charlotte with each team winning on its home floor in 1976-77 and 1977-78. Just like the two teams the Red Flash faced in 1990-91, the 49ers also left the conference after the 1991 season.
• In addition, the Loretto program has played five current members of the Sun Belt before they joined the circuit. Saint Francis is 1-0 against Georgia State (1976-77), 0-1 against Georgia Southern (1973-74), 2-1 against James Madison (1978-80), 3-6 against Old Dominion (1968-79), and 6-17 against Marshall (1940-76). Georgia State joined the Sun Belt in 2013, Georgia Southern in 2014, while James Madison, Marshall, and Old Dominion have been with the league since 2022.
• A Six-Degrees of Kevin Bacon moment can be that Eli Wilborn played his freshman year with Saint Francis before transferring to Duquesne last season and is now in his first season with James Madison.
• What might be another good omen is that Saint Francis has only played a team from the state of Alabama in years that it won the NEC Tournament. As stated before, the Red Flash lost to Alabama-Birmingham in 1990-91 before winning the title. The only other time Saint Francis has tangled with the Cotton State was last year in the NCAA First Four against Alabama State. The game kicked off the 2025 NCAA Tournament and was what some called the best game of the tournament despite the Red Flash coming on the wrong end of a 70-68 decision in Dayton on March 18. While the team is 0-2 against the state, both years it went dancing, can Saint Francis turn the trick again?
• Thanksgiving is Thursday, and the Frankies are 5-9 when playing the day before the turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Saint Francis is 4-2 at home and 1-7 on the road on Thanksgiving Eve. The first time the Red Flash played on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was the season opener for the 1991-92 season, an 80-63 win against Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) on November 27, 1991, in the team's first home game since defeating Fordham 70-64 in the NCAA Play-in Game on March 6, 1991.
• The Red Flash returns to action and will play two of its next three at home in Loretto against Franciscan on Saturday and Penn State Shenango on December 3. A road game at Xavier on Monday is sandwiched in between. Saint Francis defeated Xavier 77-73 on January 31, 1994, in what might be the second greatest win at DeGol Arena next to the NCAA Play-in Game win against Fordham.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the team's first win of the season
• Be the team's fourth win vs the Sun Belt and the first since 1990-91
• Give first-year head coach Luke McConnell his first win as a head coach• Be the third Red Flash win in the state of Florida and the first since defeating Jacksonville 78-76 on March 14, 2017, in the CIT
• Be the first in-season tournament win since an 87-71 win against Lehigh in the Golden Dome Classic on December 30, 1977. NOTE: Saint Francis played in the D.C. Holiday Hoops Fest Showcase, but was not part of the tournament bracket

ABOUT THE TROJANS
• Troy comes into the contest 4-4 after falling 75-68 to Toledo in the first game of the Geico Coconut Hoops Royal Palms Division on Monday.
• Theo Seng paced the Trojans with 18 points. Cooper Campbell added 12 points, and Thomas Dowd tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds against the Rockets.
• Campbell, whose brother Cobi is a redshirt junior with Troy, leads the team with 17.4 points per game, while Dowd is averaging a double-double with 15.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Dowd ranks 11th in NCAA Division I in rebounds per game.
• Victor Valdes (15.6 ppg.) and Seng (13.5 ppg.) are also averaging 10+ points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
• Saint Francis dropped a 94-57 decision to Belmont in the second game of the Geico Coconut Hoops Royal Palms Division on Monday.
• Senior Ahmad Harrison paced the Red Flash with a season-high 17 points, while redshirt junior Skylar Wicks added 16 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

TRENDING UP

• Senior Ahmad Harrison is averaging 14.0 points and 3.0 steals per game in his last two games. The senior, who has recorded three steals in both games, registered a season-high 17 points against Belmont on Monday and 11 points against Lehigh on November 18. The 28 points are more than he scored in his freshman year with Fordham in 2021-22, while he posted just 10 points in the first three games before his offensive outburst in his last two contests. Harrison was 3-for-3 from downtown against the Bruins after only dialing long distance six times in his career coming into the game.
• Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks continues to put up numbers after scoring at least 15 points in all five games and hauling in at least five rebounds in that span. He has been even more impressive in his last three games, with two double-doubles and a season-high 24 points, and is averaging 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in those games. The redshirt senior had at least three assists in his first four games before being held to one helper on Monday.
• Despite scoring six points against Belmont, redshirt senior Zion Russell is averaging 13.3 points per game in his last three tilts. The redshirt junior had a career-high 23 points against Mount St. Mary's on November 11 and 11 points and a season-high six rebounds against Lehigh.
• Sophomore Ralph Martino, Jr. finished with seven points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals against Belmont. The points and rebound totals matched his season high, while the assists and steals were a career best. The sophomore also had seven points and three boards against Oklahoma on November 3.
• Freshman Brandon Russell also matched his career high with six points after he also had six points in his collegiate debut against the Sooners. He did his damage on Monday with his first two career baskets from downtown.
• Senior Chris Moncrief missed his third-straight game since leaving the contest against TCU on November 6 with an injury. Moncrief was, some might say, the key to the 2025 NEC Tournament run. Moncrief helped the Red Flash to an 8-3 record when he joined the starting lineup last year, including winning six straight before the NCAA First Four.  He averaged 10.0 points per game in that stretch and is averaging 8.7 points per game in her last 12 contests.

LEAGUE LEADERS
• Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks leads the NEC in scoring (18.6 ppg.), rebounding (8.6 rpg.), and minutes played (34.8), and ranks sixth in 3-pointers per game (2.4), ninth in assists per game (2.8), seventh in field goal percentage (40.2), and 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1).
• Wicks also sits 57th in rebounding, 78th in scoring and 87th in 3-point field goal percentage in NCAA Division I.
• Redshirt senior Zion Russell is fourth in free throw percentage (82.4), fifth in minutes played (32.8), and 10th in assists per game (2.6).
• Senior Ahmad Harrison is fourth in steals per game (1.8) in the NEC.

IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
• Saint Francis is 2-7 in games played in the state of Florida. The Red Flash defeated Jacksonville 78-76 in the CollegeInsiders.com Tournament on March 14, 2017, and Stetson 70-60 on January 2, 1974.
• Saint Francis has also lost to both Jacksonville and Stetson, along with three times at the University of Miami and once at the University of Florida, which is also on the Red Flash schedule on December 17.
• The Frankies played in Florida against Belmont on November 24 for the first time since December 17 at the University of Miami. Saint Francis lost 91-76 to the eventual Final-Four Hurricanes, but the Red Flash went into halftime tied at 37, and would have had a two-point lead without a last-second steal and basket by Miami.

ON THIS DATE
• Saint Francis is 4-5 on this date, including 1-4 away from the 'Lo.
• In the team's lone win on the road on this date, Saint Francis defeated American 69-62 in 2016. Jamal King paced the Red Flash with 20 points and eight rebounds. Josh Nebo added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Keith Braxton tallied 14 points and 15 rebounds in the nation's capital.
FUN FACT...
• American has been the opponent the last two times Saint Francis played on this date after the Eagles and Flash also tangled on this date in 2022.
