Aleah James and Shelby Ricks, members of the Saint Francis women's basketball team, have been named NEC Prime Performers for the week of December 8-14. It was the second time this season both players earned the distinction.
James registered a career-high 22 points at Xavier on Sunday. It was the graduate student's second career 20-point game after posting 20 points against Robert Morris on November 13. James finished the game, going 10-for-16 from the floor and 2-for-3 from behind the arc. The graduate student did most of her damage in the first and fourth quarters after registering seven points in the opening quarter and eight points in the fourth quarter. She was 7-for-9 shooting from the floor in those two frames and hit her only 3-point attempt. The Red Flash outscored the Musketeers in the fourth quarter, 25-14. James leads the team with five 10+-point games and two 20+-point performances.
Ricks registered 16 points on Sunday. She was 5-for-9 from the floor, 2 of 3 from behind the arc and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Ricks helped the Red Flash to a 25-14 fourth quarter thanks to 14 of her 16 points, where she went 4-for-5 from the floor, 2 of 2 from 3-point land and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. It was her fourth 10+ point game of the season and the most she has scored in a Red Flash uniform.
James leads the team with 12.4 points per game, and Ricks is second with 10.5 points per game.
James was named an NEC Prime Performer for the first week and Ricks earned the distinction for the second week before Sato's nod. Sonia Sato followed with an NEC Prime Performer in the third week.
Saint Francis returns to action at Pitt on Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m.
