Softball to Face George Mason and UMBC

THE WORD ON GEORGE MASON
The Patriots are 3-5 overall this season. In their most recent outing, George Mason defeated Drexel 10-1 in five innings.

Freshman shortstop Maddy Johnson hit the walk-off home run in their win against Drexel, earning Atlantic 10's Player of the Week this week. She leads the team with six stolen bases and 10 hits with 24 at-bats and a .417 batting average. George Mason's leading pitcher is Jordan Anderson with a .81 ERA, allowing just eight hits in 8.2 innings in her one start and two appearances.

LAST TIME WE MET THE PATRIOTS
Saint Francis and George Mason have faced off 25 times, dating back to the 1991 season. The Patriots have the advantage with a 10-15 between the two programs.

The two teams last met in the Palmer Park Clash in 2023, splitting the two games they played with Saint Francis winning the first game 1-0 in 10 innings and George Mason winning 9-1 in five innings the following day. Nash hit a triple to score the lone run of the game for the Red Flash.

THE WORD ON UMBC
UMBC has a 1-3 record, taking down East Carolina 4-3 last Saturday.

Emily Riggs, as a pinch-hitter, tallied the tie-breaking home run to win the game over the Pirates. Jolie Torrens leads the Retrievers at the plate with a .333 batting average, one run scored and three hits. Sophomore Haley Luginbill has 23 putouts to lead the team. Kya Matter has a 2.33 ERA, allowing seven hits in six innings pitched. All three of UMBC's pitchers have four strikeouts on the season.

LAST TIME WE MET THE RETRIEVERS
Saint Francis and UMBC have a lengthy history with an 8-28 record against Maryland Baltimore County and a 2-0 record against UMBC. The Red Flash and the Retrievers have not faced off since 2013 when Saint Francis won 8-1.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash played in the Spiro Classic in Greensboro, N.C. going 1-3 against Toledo and UNCG. Sofia Zielinski recorded her first career home run in the first game against the Rockets.

The Red Flash defeated Toledo 7-6 on Feb. 15. AB Cipalla, Addison Deal, Zoey Nussbaum and Olivia Ulam tallied RBIs in the win. Allie Braly pitched her second complete game of the season, striking out five strikeouts.

Savannah Nash earned NEC Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
