LORETTO, Pa. – Women's volleyball is the 2024 statistical champion for aces per set. Saint Francis recorded an average of 2.55 aces this season, playing a total of 99 sets.
"During preseason we implemented a serving drill that our men's volleyball program does. My whiteboard said: 'they lead the nation in aces per set, why can't we?'" head coach Sara Spielvogel said.
"It's cool to see something you manifest play out in real life. We want to serve so that we can control the rally. Our players bought into that philosophy and was a huge reason why we had the serving success we did this year."
The Red Flash recorded 252 aces over the course of the 2024 season. In the win over Morgan State on Aug. 31, the team recorded 22 service aces, which was the most in a four-set match in Division I.
Saint Francis' serving leaders were Alexandra Sappia with 53 aces, Maggie Hogan and Drew Wallech with 43, Korrin Burns with 38 and Raegan Rosi with 28.
This is the first time Saint Francis women's volleyball is a statistical champion.
