Softball Splits Doubleheader Against CCSU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Softball took the second game of a doubleheader against CCSU, falling 2-0 in game one and winning game two 9-5.

TURNING POINTS
CCSU scored both runs of the first game in the bottom of the first with singles to left and center field. The Blue Devils prevented the Red Flash from scoring the rest of the way.

The Blue Devils hit a two-run home run to cut the Saint Francis lead, but Bendle and Nash hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the sixth to regain a four-run lead.


FLASH MOMENTS
Saint Francis scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning in game two. Olivia Ulam began with a solo home run. After Sofia Zielinski walked, she advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a single by Aliya Garroway.

Morgan Pasternak and Hannah Bendle walked, tying the game on Bendle's walk. Savannah Nash doubled to left center, tacking on two runs. With bases still loaded, AB Cipalla singled down the left field line for a 7-3 lead.


FLASH NUGGETS
Nash went 5-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs and three RBIs on the day.

Ulam had 10 putouts at first base.

Allie Braly pitched all of game one, allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts and one walk.

Madelynn Bates started game two, pitching four innings and allowing three earned runs with one strikeout and two walks. Addison Deal pitched the remaining three innings, allowing two earned runs with two strikeouts and two walks. Deal earned her first collegiate save in the win.
