TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
The Knights got out to a quick 3-0 start in the first 1:28 of the first quarter, forcing a timeout from the Red Flash. Saint Francis responded out of the break by scoring four of the next five goals to knot the score at four at the 1:56 mark. FDU countered the run by scoring with four seconds left to take a 5-4 lead going into the second period.
The Knights scored the first goal of the second quarter at the 8:24 mark to go up 6-4. From there, it was another 3-1 run by the Red Flash that tied the game at seven going into halftime.
Saint Francis took over the game in the third quarter. The team outscored FDUÂ 5-1 during the period to go into the final 15 minutes with a 12-8 lead. From the 8:24 mark of the second quarter through all of the third quarter, the Red Flash went on an 8-2 run.Â
The Knights tried to mount a comeback in the final quarter with two-straight goals to cut their deficit to 12-10, but Heather Delbone put an end to the rally by scoring off an assist from Roncarati to make the score 13-10 with 3:41 left. FDU's goal at the 2:56 mark would not be enough to start a second rally, as Saint Francis ran out the remaining 2:20 of the game to secure their win.
FLASH MOMENTS
Givens (7:56), Lacey (4:08), Samantha Hewitt (3:01) and Roncarati (1:56) all pitched in an unassisted goal during the 4-1 run in the first quarter.Â
Saint Francis scored all three of their goals during the second quarter within the 3:26-0:06 time range. Elizabeth Mahmud got the scoring started at the 3:26 mark off a free position shot to cut the deficit to 6-5. Then, Roncarati dished out an assist to Mak Patten with 1:16 left to tie the score at six apiece. After a goal from the Knights at the 0:38 mark, Lacey scored unassisted with six seconds left to knot the score up at seven.Â
Roncarati helped begin the Saint Francis scoring burst in the third quarter with a goal off a feed from Lacey to give the Red Flash a 8-7 lead at the 13:05 mark. Mahmud found the back of the net unassisted to increase the advantage to 9-7.
After an FDU goal to make it a 9-8 game, Hewitt connected with Lacey to help Saint Francis go up 10-8 with 2:43 left in the quarter.
Givens put an exclamation mark on the third quarter with two goals in the span of 18 seconds. Her first goal came off an assist from Patten with 25 seconds left. After DiRenno won the proceeding draw control, the junior scored again with seven seconds remaining to push the Red Flash lead to 12-8.
FLASH NUGGETS
Lacey compiled her third hat trick in today's game and now has three or more points in six contests. The junior remains the leading scorer for the Red Flash with 30 points (24 goals, 6 assists).
Givens recorded her second-straight hat trick and her third game with three or more goals overall this season. It also marks the fourth time during the 2025 campaign that the junior notched 3+ points.
Roncarati's four points is the most she tallied in a game since posting seven (5 goals, 2 assists) at CCSU on March 15. It is the senior's fourth contest with 3+ points this season.Â
With DiRenno's 12 draw controls, she is up to 24 in the last three games combined. The senior surpassed her previous career high of seven in the last contest against Stonehill on March 29.
Mahmud chipped in two goals for the third time this season.
Chyler Espino and
Elizabeth Garcia led the team with three ground balls. Espino is now two away from 100 career ground balls.
Taylor Coughlin registered six saves. The senior has reached triple digits for the second-straight season, as she now has 102 through 11 games.
Bella Tesche and Givens each caused two turnovers.Â
