LORETTO, Pa. – Softball's Hannah Bendle, Annabelle Farmer, Aliya Garroway, Olivia Kolowitz and Olivia Ulam have earned places on the College Sports Communicator's (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
To be eligible, players must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Eligible nominees must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played, start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games or a pitcher must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
Bendle has a 3.863 GPA and is studying Biology. The sophomore from New Concord, Ohio appeared in all 52 games for Saint Francis at shortstop. She had 10 doubles, five home runs, 27 RBIs, 29 runs scored and nine stolen bases. She led the team with 146 assists, good for second in a single season in program history. Bendle was also a First Team All-Conference selection this year.
Farmer is a junior Exercise Physiology major with a 3.938 GPA. In her junior season, she appeared in 43 games, starting in 41 of them. The Lancaster, Ohio native recorded three home runs, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored. At catcher, she tallied 124 putouts and 21 assists. She was named to the Second Team All-Conference
Garroway, an Ellwood City, Pa. native, is majoring in Accounting and has a 3.926 GPA. She started at third base in all 52 games this season. At the plate, the sophomore recorded nine doubles, one home run, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored. She also earned 43 putouts and 107 assists at third.
Kolowitz, a sophomore, has a 3.902 GPA and is majoring in Marketing. The Belle Vernon, Pa. native appeared as the designated player for the Red Flash as well as in the circle. She had 25 appearances as a pitcher, getting the start in 16 games. She held batters to a .339 average with 29 strikeouts on the season.
Ulam completed her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education with a 3.865 GPA. She started in 50 games, all at first base. The Canonsburg, Pa. native recorded 15 doubles, six home runs, 34 RBIs and 33 runs scored. At first base, she tallied 381 putouts and 11 assists. Ulam was named the Northeast Conference's Golden Glove and earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference. This is her second CSC Academic All-District selection.
Academic All-District honorees will be evaluated by a CSC subcommittee to determine their candidacy for the Academic All-America ballot. All-America honorees will be announced next month.
