Softball Advances in NEC Winner's Bracket with Run-Rule Victory Over FDU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Softball opened its Northeast Conference Tournament run with a 10-2, run-rule win over FDU.

>> Olivia Ulam hit her 200th career hit in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run home run.


TURNING POINT

With a 7-2 lead, AB Cipalla grounded out to first base, giving Addie Smith the scoring opportunity. A ground-rule double by Savannah Nash gave the Red Flash a 9-2 lead. Hannah Bendle earned the game-winning RBI on a single through the left side at a 10-2 score.

FLASH MOMENTS
With Bendle on third, a single by Olivia Ulam put Saint Francis on the board in the bottom of the first. Later in the inning, Aliya Garroway hit a single up the middle, allowing Ulam to cross home plate for the 2-0 lead.

With runners in scoring position, Nash hit a sacrifice fly foul ball, scoring Olivia Kolowitz. Bendle then hit a single to the shortstop to take a 4-0 lead. Ulam hit a ball deep into left field for a home run and hit 200. After three consecutive walks, Annabelle Farmer hit a sacrifice fly, pushing the Red Flash lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning.


FLASH NUGGETS
Bendle went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, including the game-winning single.

Ulam went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. She also had seven putouts at first.

Allie Braly started for Saint Francis, pitching three innings with no runs, walks or strikeouts. Madelynn Bates pitched the remaining two innings, allowing two earned runs with one walk and one strikeout.
