The Red Flash Fall In Three To Rutgers


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>> Korrin Burns led with 10 kills.
>> The Red Flash played the Scarlett Knights for the first time in two decades.
>> Saint Francis lost in three sets to Rutgers (25-15, 25-21, 25-18).  

TURNING POINT IN THE GAME 
After a 2-0 start for the Red Flash, thanks to a hot kill by Burns, Saint Francis kept the score close, capitalizing on the Rutger errors. However, the Scarlett Knights went on a 9-3 run to enlarge the gap and never looked back taking the 3-0 win on the evening. 

FLASH MOMENTS 
Saint Francis and Rutgers exchanged points in the second set, never letting the score difference go beyond five. The Red Flash closed the 14-9 gap with a 5-1 run. Paloma Gonzalez Jaramillo collected two kills, Gewn Atkins tossed up two service aces, and Burns threw down a kill.  

The Red Flash came out leading 11-9 with an all-around team effort. Burns added two kills right past Rutgers' blockers. Gonzalez Jaramillo had an assisted block and solo to help the Red Flash lead. Kori McClure, Alyssa Irwin, and Alexandra Sappia each tossed in a kill. 

FLASH NUGGETS
Burns, an All-NEC first-team performer, had 10 kills.  

McClure, an All-NEC first-team performer, threw in three kills and two assisted blocks. 

Sappia tallied a total of 21 assists. This game adds to her streak of 20 or more assists per game up to 22 matches. She also collected an ace and a team high of four digs. 

Gonzalez Jaramillo had five kills and 3 total blocks. 

Atkins had four kills, four service aces, and one assisted block.

The Red Flash will continue its action tomorrow against New Hampshire and Saturday against Rider.
