Saint Francis Cruises Past Rider with 3-0 Sweep

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis' late surge in the second set marked the mindset of the game, as they scored six of the final eight points to seize control. The momentum ignited with a powerful kill from Paloma Gonzalez Jaramillo, followed by crucial kills from Korrin Burns and Alyssa Irwin that put pressure on Rider. Hailey Atkins then delivered a service ace and a key kill, pushing the Red Flash to game point. Capitalizing on Rider's errors, Saint Francis closed out the set and shifted the match firmly in their favor. 

FLASH MOMENTS 
In the first set against Rider, Saint Francis went on a decisive 10-4 run to close out the set. The Red Flash turned a 15-15 tie into a 25-19 victory. This surge was fueled by several strong plays from Alexandra Sappia including multiple assists, a kill, and a key block. Burns added in three kills while Gonzalez Jaramillo delivered the final kill to lead to the set win.  
 
With the game tied 17 all, Saint Francis went on a crucial 7-2 run to pull ahead. Gonzalez Jaramillo and Kori McClure defended the net with several blocks. Sappia created opportunities for both Gonzalez Jaramillo and Gwen Atkins to collect kills and take the 3-0 victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
Burns, the two-time NEC Player of the Week, finished the night with 16 kills and 10 digs. This put her at 16 double doubles in her collegiate career.  

Gonzalez Jaramillo registered eight kills and one assisted block.  
 
Gwen Atkins, the current NEC Rookie of the Week, threw in five kills, two aces, and six digs.   

Chandler Alter collected seven digs for the Red Flash.  

Sappia finished the match with 31 assists, three aces, three assisted blocks, and four digs. Sappia has earned NEC Prime Performer distinction in the first two weeks of the season. 
 
Irwin tallied seven kills, a solo block, and two assisted blocks.

As Saint Francis wrapped up its three games stretch in New Jersey, they prepare to be back on the road Friday to play in the Four Twelve Project Volleyball Invitational. Saint Francis kicks off the tournament against Robert Morris on Friday at 6 p.m. and Duquesne on Saturday at 2 p.m.
