NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Rylan Crowell and
Alexandra Sappia both had double doubles. Saint Francis could not pull ahead after the large gapped second set.
In the first set, Saint Francis went on several four point runs including the last one of the set. Sappia set up Ava Holden for a kill down the middle. A Westminster attacking error forced a timeout, however, it did not help. They had another error and timeout called. Emmi Adrian capped off the set with an untouched ace.
With the Red Wolves down 11-13 in the fourth set, Saint Francis went on a 4-0 run to regain the lead. Adrian set up Holden for another kill down the middle right before Crowell nabbed a solo kill. Freshman Madison Roman collected a service ace but it was not enough to win the set. Westminster won set two and three as well to take the game 3-1.
Offensively, Crowell had a game high of 15 kills and 17 digs. Holden followed behind her with 11 kills, three digs, two solo blocks, and a .450 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Aleya Talmadge registered 20 digs, five assists, and a kill. Sappia had 15 digs, 29 assists, five kills, and one ace.
Red Wolves will return to Loretto to host Bethany on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
