BOX SCORE LORETTO Pa. -- The Red Wolves swept Pitt Greensburg with straight energy. Saint Francis kept the Bobcats to .041 hitting percentage.
Saint Francis regained the lead late in the first set with a 7-0 run. It started with a Rylan Crowell kill who was set up on the right side by Emmi Adrian. After a bad set and attacking error by Pitt Greensburg, Ana Andrades-Villa nabbed a service ace. Then middle blocker Allie Dziabo recorded her own kill from a free ball that was sent over. Alexandra Sappia set up Crowell for two back-to-back kills to win the first set 25-20.
A 4-0 start kept the Red Wolves heated while they continued to extend the lead of the second set. Once again Saint Francis went on a 7-0 run to take the win. Crowell had a kill and solo block to keep the energy going. Sappia had the last three points which were service aces. Aleya Talmadge assisted Kylie Rauch on the final kill of the set.
Late in the third set, Saint Francis was down 13-16, however, Ava Holden and Sappia aided each other to go an a quick 5-0 run. Holden grabbed a kill right before an attacking error from the Bobcats. Then Holden registered another kill right down the middle, which were both set up by Sappia. Holden and Sappia recorded a duo block to force a Greensburg timeout. Allie Dziabo set up Jordyn Vincent for the kill that won the game.
Offensively, Crowell led with 12 kills, seven digs, and two aces. Vincent had eight kills and a solo block. Holden registered seven kills and three assisted blocks.
Defensively, Sappia had nine digs, 23 assists, seven aces, and five kills. Adrian followed with seven digs, seven assists, and an ace.
Saint Francis will have a quick turnover and play Westminster on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The match will be located in New Wilmington, Pa.
