Fresh off a career-high 33-point performance, redshirt senior
Skylar Wicks, a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, has been named an NEC Prime Performer for the week of February 8-14. It is the ninth time this season he has earned the distinction.
Wicks averaged 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the two games. The redshirt senior posted the sixth-most points by an NEC player in a game with 33 points against Mercyhurst on Saturday. Wicks shot 11-for-15 in the game, 4 of 5 from behind the arc, and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. He added five rebounds and five assists against the Lakers. Wicks, who had 11 points against FDU on Thursday, shot 46.9 percent from the floor (15-for-32), 50.0 percent from behind the arc (6-for-12), and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line (8-for-10) in the two games. Wicks surpassed his career high of 29 points that he registered against Schriener as a member of Incarnate Word on November 14, 2023, with his performance against Mercyhurst. It was the second time in three games he posted more than 25 points after he scored 27 points at Le Moyne on February 7. It was also the first time a player made 10 free throws in a game since
Riley Parker made 11 field goals against Lehigh on November 26, 2024. The redshirt senior has 10 20-point performances, the most since Josh Cohen hit 20 points in a game 16 times during the 2022-23 campaign. Cohen was also the last player to score 30 points in a game against FDU on February 23, 2023.
Freshman
Paris Papadatos was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of December 1-7 after scoring 19 points against Penn State Shenango on December 3 and 15 points at Radford on December 7 for the only major weekly award this season.
Wicks leads the team with nine NEC Prime Performer distinctions, while redshirt senior
Zion Russell has a pair, and seniors
Ahmad Harrison and
Chris Moncrief each have one recognition.
Saint Francis returns to action with its final two regular-season home games, starting with LIU on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m. The Red Flash will wear its new black uniforms for the first time this season at DeGol Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear black to make it a Black Out. In addition, the Saint Francis University Criminal Justice Club is collecting monetary donations or new teddy bears for their annual "Bears for Care" Drive during the game. The Bears will then be taken around and given to local law enforcement agencies to keep on hand for children involved in emergency situations. There will be a special halftime bear toss. The club will also do this for the women's basketball home game against Stonehill on Thursday, February 26.
