FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saturday's game between Saint Francis and Le Moyne marks the 11th meeting dating back to the 1948-49 season.
• The Red Flash leads the series 6-4, but thanks to the win in Loretto on January 2, the Dolphins hold a 3-2 edge since they joined the NEC in 2023-24. Saint Francis won four of the first five meetings in the match-up, but the two teams had not met since the 1957-58 season in Latrobe, Pa., as part of the Saint Vincent Tournament before the NEC encounters.
• Under the NEC umbrella, one team has swept the season series in the first two campaigns. In the first year, Le Moyne won both contests, and in 2024-25, Saint Francis was victorious in both games. The Red Flash are looking to end this trend with a win on Saturday.
• The calendar turned to February, and the Frankies returned to playing overtime with their game at Mercyhurst on Thursday. It was the third-straight overtime game Saint Francis has played in the month of February.
• Last season, the Red Flash went to an extra session in its final three regular-season games, with the first two being February 20, 2025, against Le Moyne and February 22 against FDU.
• The game in Syracuse against the Dolphins last season was the turning point of the season. The Loretto program came into that game 5-8 in NEC play and dangerously close to being out of postseason contention. Saint Francis won that game in overtime to start a six-game winning streak that culminated with the Red Flash cutting down the nets in New Britain for its second NEC Championship.
• Another comparison to the last time the Red Flash visited Ted Grant Court is that Saint Francis came into the meeting on a two-game losing streak. With that extra session win, the Red Flash snapped the losing skid. Saint Francis has lost two NEC games in a row twice this season and three times in 2024-25, but each time the team halted the streak before it reached three games. The last time the team lost more than two games in a row in league play was when it lost five straight to end the 2023-24 regular season. Le Moyne was the final game of the regular season on March 2, 2024, and the Dolphins won that game to sweep the season series.
• Saint Francis is in its second state in three days with its game at Le Moyne after playing in Erie on Thursday. After the game in Syracuse, the Red Flash will briefly return to Loretto before boarding a plane at the Johnstown Airport on Sunday morning to travel to Chicago to face Chicago State on Monday afternoon. The Red Flash will play five NEC games in 10 days, with its current four-game road trip ending in the Garden State on Thursday at FDU. Saint Francis traveled 9,267 miles in non-conference play to set a program record for non-conference miles traveled. The Loretto program will be traveling 1,910 miles in eight days during its time away from the Lo'.
• When Saint Francis returns to Loretto on February 14, it will be the celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the 1991 NEC Championship team and the jersey retirement of Joe Anderson and Mike Iuzzolino, two of the players who led the Red Flash in that title run. The celebration will be one day after the 35th Anniversary of Iuzzolino scoring 41 points against Robert Morris.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Even its NEC record to 5-5
• Be the first time the two teams will split the season series since Le Moyne joined the NEC in 2023-24
• Even the record on the four-game road trip to 1-1
• Be the second straight win in Syracuse'
• Be the first win in the month of February
• Be the second win in the Empire State this season after defeating Wagner 71-69 on January 8
• Be the 1,194th win in NCAA team history

ABOUT THE DOLPHINS
• Le Moyne comes into the contest 11-13 overall and 6-5 in NEC play after falling  at Wagner 79-78 on Thursday. The Seahawks registered the decisive basket with 1.2 seconds left.
• Trent Mosquera paced Le Moyne with 20 points. Jakai Sanders added 13 points and six assists, and Tennessee Rainwater chipped in 13 points.
• Mosquera is averaging 14.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Deng Garang (10.4 ppg) and Jakai Sanders (10.2 ppg) are also averaging double figures.
• Shilo Jackson leads the team with 14.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, along with 32 blocks. Jackson has not played since January 19 against LIU.

LAST TIME WE MET
• Le Moyne defeated Saint Francis 84-58 in the NEC opener on January 2.
• Redshirt senior Zion Russell paced the Red Flash with 12 points, five assists, three steals, and two rebounds, while sophomore Victor Payne added 11 points and five rebounds.
• Samuel Hinacapie powered the Dolphins with 18 points. Trent Mosquera (15 points), Jakob Blakley (13 points), Shilo Jackson (12 points), and Tennessee Rainwater (11 points) also reached double figures.

LAST TIME OUT
• Despite 22 points by senior Chris Moncrief, Saint Francis lost 98-89 in overtime at Mercyhurst on Thursday.
• Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks (19 points), redshirt senior Zion Russell (16 points), and senior Victor Payne (14 points) also had double figures.

TRENDING UP

• Saint Francis has played overtime against the same team in back-to-back seasons twice, and in the same year once. An overtime game in Le Moyne on Saturday would mark the first time the Red Flash has played OT at one location two times in a row after the  Frankies defeated the Dolphins 81-76 on February 20, 2025 in the last meeting in Syracuse. Saint Francis played Robert Morris an extra session in both games in 1983-84, and played a home and an away game in separate seasons against LIU (1996-97, 1997-98) and Wagner (2023-24, 2024-25).
• If the Red Flash goes into overtime against Le Moyne, it would mark the third time in program history Saint Francis has played consecutive overtime games. Last year, the Red Flash set a record with three-straight OT games against Le Moyne, FDU and Chicago State to end the regular season. The only other time the Frankies played back-to-back overtime games was Maurice Stokes' final two games in a Saint Francis uniform in the National Invitation Tournament against Dayton and Cincinnati in 1955. Saint Francis won all three games last season, but lost both of Stokes' final two tilts. Speaking of Stokes, did you know that he had 31 points against Le Moyne in Syracuse on February 9, 1952.
• Since OT has been a theme to start this header, let's continue and talk about senior Chris Moncrief and overtime. The Red Flash has played an extra session six times in his three years in Loretto, and he has scored double figures in five of the six OT games, including four of his first five 10+ point games. He is averaging 14.3 points per game in overtime games, and 17.2 points per game in his last five. Thursday's loss at Mercyhurst was just the third time the Red Flash has lost in a game he has scored double figures with the team holding a 10-3 record when he reaches double figures, and two of those losses have been in OT.
• Last year, Moncrief averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game against Le Moyne. He shot 76.5 percent (13-for-17) from the floor, 80.0 percent (4-for-5) from behind the arc and 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the free-throw line against the Dolphins. Not sure if the sea was angry on February 20, 2025, and it wasn't a whale, but against a dolphin, but Moncrief had was the ace in the hole against Le Moyne in the last meeting in Syracuse with a career-high 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds in the OT win. He registered his second career 20-point game of his career against Mercyhurst on February 5. The first meeting against Le Moyne on January 2 was his first game back since December 14 at Temple and played nine minutes.
• The first meeting against the Dolphins was also the first time in redshirt senior Skylar Wicks' Saint Francis career he was held to single digits, finishing with nine points. He has posted double figures in his last six contests and has three games with at least 19 points in that stretch. He is averaging 16.2 points in that stretch. With his jumper with 11 seconds left in OT, Wicks reached 800 points in his NCAA career. The redshirt senior played one season at an NJCAA Division I school in Florida and has amassed 1,263 in his collegiate career.
• Redshirt senior Zion Russell could be a guest on Sesame Street to help learn to count because in his last three games he has gone up the ladder with 14, 15 and 16 points. Russell has double figures in points in eight of his last nine games. He is averaging 15.0 points per game in his last three and 13.2 points per game in his last nine tilts.
• Sophomore Victor Payne notched an NEC career-high 14 points against the Lakers on Thursday and has posted double figures five times in league play. The 14 points are the most he has scored in NEC play and the third highest of his career after he posted back-to-back 15-point performances in non-conference play. He is looking to record consecutive 10+ point games for the third time this season, and in his career.

In NEC games, the Red Flash leads the league in scoring (74.3 ppg), 3-point field goal percentage (38.2), and 3-pointers made (9.00 pg), and is second in assists (15.22 apg) and second in steals (7.56 spg).

ON THE ROAD

• Saint Francis will spend 14 of the 28 days in February on the road and will play seven of its final 10 NEC games, starting with a four-game road trip in eight days that begins at Mercyhurst.
• The Red Flash is 1-11 away from Loretto, including 1-9 on the road, 0-2 on a neutral site and on the road, and 1-2 in NEC play. Saint Francis picked up its first road win of the season at Wagner on January 8. The squad is averaging 66.1 points per game on the road and allowing 89.1 points per game, compared to scoring 76.7 points per game and allowing 72.2 points per game at home.
• Saint Francis spent 22 of the first 46 days of the season on the road, but has only been on the road for four of the 43 days since returning from Florida on December 18.
• Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks powers the team with 18.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game on the road. Wicks has registered double figures in 11 of the 12 road games this season, including six 20-point performances and a double-double. He has a season-high twice this season, including at Lehigh on November 18. He is averaging 20.0 points per game in his last two road games, with 19 points at Mercyhurst on February 5 in his last road tilt.
• Redshirt senior Zion Russell is also averaging double figures away from Loretto with 10.8 points per game. Russell has seven double-figure point games, including a road high of 15 twice.
• Senior Ahmad Harrison has three 10+ point games away from DeGol Arena, including a season-high 17 points vs Belmont on November 24. Sophomore Victor Payne also has three 10+ point games on the road, with a career-high 15 points against Troy on November 22.
• Senior Chris Moncrief has two 10+ point games away to the Lo', including a season-high 22 points at Mercyhurst.
• Sophomore Ralph Martino, Jr. has two 10+ point games in his last two road games, including a career-high 15 points at LIU, while redshirt senior Cam Tweedy, redshirt junior Gestin Liberis, and freshman Paris Papadatos each have one double-figure point game on the road.

ON THIS DATE

• Saint Francis is 13-9 overall, 4-5 on the road, and 5-6 in NEC play. The Red Flash has lost three straight on this date, including its last two on the road.
• The last win on this date was an 83-67 win at Marist in Poughkeepsie in 1991. Joe Anderson paced the Red Flash with 28 points. Mike Fink (13 points), Mike Iuzzolino (13 points), and Tom Bennetch (10 points) also registered double figures to help Saint Francis to its only season sweep against the Red Foxes in the 1991 NEC Championship season.
FUN FACTS...
• Maurice Stokes averaged 28.0 points per game in two games on this date, leading the Frankies to a pair of victories. Stokes had 28 points in an 85-72 win against Georgetown in 1952 and then had 32 points in a 94-83 victory against Lawrence Tech the following season. The Hoyas have come to town four times, and the Red Flash are 4-0 against the now Big East team. In 1952, this was the first Hoyas trip to Loretto. Stokes would have 37 against Georgetown two years later, a career high through his junior campaign.
