OPENING SERVE VS LE MOYNEÂ
The Saint Francis University men's tennis team opens the weekend with a home match against the Le Moyne Dolphins at the Ebensburg Tennis Center in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. This marks just the second meeting between the two programs, with the Red Flash losing the previous encounter.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINSÂ
The Le Moyne Dolphins' team leader in wins is freshman Carlo Zucchini, who holds a record of 9-3 and has faced Colgate and Youngstown State. In doubles, the underclassmen duo of Zucchini and Luke Hoyland leads the squad with a record of 3-0.
OPENING SERVE VS DUQUESNEÂ
The following day, the Red Flash will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Duquesne Dukes in a midday matchup. This marks the tenth time these two teams have met since the 2012 season. The last and only time the Red Flash recorded a win over the Dukes came back in 2017 in a 4-3 victory.
SCOUTING THE DUKESÂ
So far this young season, no one has turned heads more than sophomore Enrique Lana, who represented the Duquesne men's tennis team at the Atlantic 10 Conference Masters. Accompanying Lana in doubles action is Aril Kyra Tuna, arguably the second-best player on the team. Their overall record as a duo is 1-3, the best in the lineup.
NEXT TIME OUTÂ
The men's tennis team is back in action Friday, Feb. 13, as the Red Flash travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Carnegie Mellon Tartans in a match scheduled for a time and location to be determined.
ABOUT THE COACH
Head coach Hovan begins his fifth season in Loretto and has helped both the men's and women's teams to new heights. In 2023-24, he was named NEC Coach of the Year after helping the men reach their second NEC Championship Game. Last season, the women's tennis team made the NEC Championship Game for the first time in program history.Â
CALIFORNIAÂ DREAMIN'
Men's tennis standout SophomoreÂ
Kevin Titus Suresh had a fall slate to remember, further cementing himself as a star in this already talent-filled team. Across the six tournaments Suresh appeared in, the underclassmen posted a team-high 10-6 record, putting him on the path to claiming his first NEC Singles Championship, which in turn earned him a spot in the ITA Masters in San Diego in early November.Â
