WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis softball fell to Texas State 7-0 on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the San Marcos Showdown at Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The game-changing moment came in the bottom of the second inning when Texas State struck first. After a single just out of reach of Red Flash shortstop Aliya Garroway, the baserunner arrived safely at first base and then stole second during the following at-bat. Soon after, Texas State sent a shot up the middle to drive home the base runner, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. From that point on, the Red Flash were unable to regain the lead for the remainder of the game.
FLASH MOMENTS
Tonight's lone baserunner was junior Aliya Garroway, who drew her 17th walk of the season in the top of the seventh inning.
On the pitching side, freshman Zoe Kesterson threw a complete game, becoming just the second Red Flash pitcher to do so this season, alongside teammate Ella Zoss.
