ALTOONA, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer earned its first victory of the 2026 season with a 4-0 win over Penn State Altoona Wednesday evening.
Saint Francis acted quickly with goal scored by
Mercedez Paino, within the first four minutes, which was assisted by
Reagan Truxillo. The score remained 1-0 until six minutes remained in the first half, when
Molly Baker then sent one to the back of the net, assisted by
Meredith Artz, to extend the to 2-0. Just 30 seconds later, Paino added her second of the night, to give the Red Wolves a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Saint Francis continued to control the match in the second half, earning eight corner kick opportunities. Artz took advantage of one of those opportunities, finding the back of the net in the 73rd minute to give the Red Flash a 4-0 lead and secure the shutout victory over Penn State Altoona.
Tonight's game marked collegiate firsts for Baker and Truxillo, as Baker scored her first collegiate goal and Truxillo recorded her first collegiate assist. Artz also added an assist.
The Red Wolves tallied 24 shots, 16 of which being on goal. Artz recorded four shots on goal.

Jacklyn Hajnosz, Paino, and Baker each added two shots on goal during the match.
"It was a complete performance tonight, especially in the first half. We challenged our ladies to start strong and we did that," head coach
Brian Diaz shared. "Beyond the four goals, that is our second shutout in a row. This group is ascending and playing better with every match. It is fun to watch."
The Red Wolves will be back on the pitch at Stokes Soccerplex Wednesday, September 16, at 4 p.m., against St. Vincent College
