LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer faced off with Saint Vincent, PAC opponent, Wednesday evening. The Red Wolves fell 3-0.
The Red Wolves and Bearcats battled back and forth through the first 45 minutes of the match. Saint Francis was able to get two shots off on goal before going into the half, however, when the sounded the score was still 0-0. During the second half, Saint Francis was able to get five shots off, but could not get any past Saint Vincent's goalkeeper. Saint Vincent put together a string of drives that led to three goals over three minutes. The Red Wolves were not able to convert any of their opportunities, ultimately leading to a loss to the Bearcats.
Alyssa Walker made 10 saves in goal.
Reagan Truxillo tallied two shots on goal, and
Katie Drouillard,Â
Mercedez Paino,
Meredith Artz, and
Riley Cerqua each tallied one.
Natalie Kirsch made her collegiate debut during Wednesday evening's match.
"First off, credit to Saint Vincent. They were organized and ready to play. They are a solid team and deserved the win. We have to be better in a few aspects of our game," head coach
Brian Diaz stated. "We didn't show our best today, but I am confident in this young team's ability to bounce back. This is a driven group that has proven multiple times they have grit. So, we will pick ourselves up again and prepare for a tough match up with Chatham on Saturday."
The Red Wolves will be back in action at home this Saturday at home in doubleheader fashion. The men's team will play first at 1 p.m., followed by the women's match at 4 p.m.
