ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Saint Francis women's volleyball finished tri-match 1-1 against Wilson and Elizabethtown. The Red Wolves claimed a win against Wilson (3-1) and lost to Elizabethtown (1-3). Three Red Wolves hit double digits kills and digs.
During the first set against Wilson, both teams gave back-to-back points until the Red Wolves took the lead and win.
Ava Holden and
Lorah Thomas went up for a duo block to tie the game at 24-24. Holden slammed a ball down the middle that was set up by
Alexandra Sappia. Saint Francis took the first set from an attacking error by Wilson's hitter.Â
Both teams took a set respectively. In the fourth set, the Red Wolves won off of small runs that boosted their fuel.
Ana Andrades-Villa, Thomas,
Rylan Crowell, and Sappia all aided in the 3-1 win.Â
In the second game versus Elizabethtown, Saint Francis could not control the pace like they did in the beginning. The Red Wolves started off with a 5-1 run with help from Holden,
Emmi Adrian, Crowell, and Sappia. However, the Blue Jays kept a rhythm and won 25-17.Â
The Red Wolves found some energy to fuel small runs, including the run to claim the third set 25-22. Sappia set Thomas up on the right side for a high ball down the line. Then middle blocker Holden collected back-to-back solo blocks. Holden also registered the set winning kill down the middle from Sappia. The comeback was not enough to push past Elizabethtown as they won 3-0.Â
Holden had 19 kills, five assisted blocks, and a .442Â hitting percentage.
Sappia had 76 assists, nine digs, and five aces.
Thomas recorded 15 kills, .588 hitting percentage on the first game.Â
Madison Roman registered 23 kills, and 10 digs,Â
Adrian grabbed 24 digs.
Crowell nabbed 26 kills and 19 digs.
Saint Francis will face Penn State Altoona in Altoona, Pa. on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m.
