LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis women's soccer shut out the Cougars of Chatham at home Saturday evening. The 4-0 victory marks the first home win of the 2026 season.
Saint Francis came out firing, finding the back of the net twice in the opening nine minutes.
Molly Baker opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing off a pass from
Meredith Artz. Just over a minute later, Baker struck again, this time with an assist from
Juliana Nerney, to put the Red Wolves up 2-0 early.
The Red Wolves kept the pressure on throughout the first half, creating plenty of chances and keeping Chatham's opportunities to a minimum. Saint Francis added two more goals before the break, with
Delaney Urban scoring in the 37th minute off a pass from Baker. Less than three minutes later, Artz added a goal of her own to give the Red Flash a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
Saint Francis continued to control the game in the second half, finishing with 27 shots, including 17 on goal. The Red Wolves also earned eight corner kicks while holding Chatham to just seven shots. The final whistle sounded with Saint Francis taking the 4-0 win.
Urban recorded her first Red Wolves goal during Saturday's match.
Baker recorded her first collegiate two-goal game. She also recorded her first five-point game.
Today's match marked Artz's second three-point game this season.
Artz and Urban put up four shots on goal, Baker with three,Â
Ashlyn Fetterman with two, and Nerney,
Reagan Truxillo,
Riley Cerqua, and
Ella Gladfelter each with one.
Alyssa Walker tallied four saves in goal.
"The sign a great team is one that has a positive response to a set back. That is exactly what we did today. We challenged our players and they answered," head coach
Brian Diaz stated. "It was a complete performance from start to finish. Our younger players really stepped up and showed their potential. Our veterans led by example. We stayed on the front foot for 90 minutes. This group has a ton of potential and it is fun to watch!"
The Red Wolves will be back in action Tuesday evening on the road against Washington and Jefferson in Washington, Pa. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
