Biography

SENIOR (2017) – NEC Gold Glove Winner… Second Team All-NEC… Finished career tied for second all-time in walks (86)… Started all 60 games, with 42 starts at catcher, 15 starts in the outfield, two starts at third base and one as designated player… Batted .314 with 43 hits, including four doubles, a triple, three homers, 36 RBI and 36 runs. Drew 30 walks, tied for the third-most in a season at SFU, and stole eight bases… Ended the season with a .423 slugging percentage and a .473 on-base percentage, the third-highest in a season at SFU. Ranked 92nd in Division I in on-base percentage… As a catcher, did not allow a passed ball and threw out 15 steal attempts… In NEC play, hit .319 with 10 hits, including a double, a triple, a homer, nine RBI and eight runs… Had six multi-hit games, eight multi-run games and six multi-RBI games… Drew four walks and scored two runs against Maryland Eastern Shore (2/11)… Hit a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning at Campbell (2/12)… Hit a two-run homer against Cleveland State (2/19)… Doubled and scored two runs against UMass (2/26)… Had an RBI single and scored two runs at North Texas (2/28)… Went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a stolen base against Incarnate Word (3/4)… The following day had three singles and scored two runs against Incarnate Word… Had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly at Liberty (3/10)… Doubled, walked twice and scored two runs against Rhode Island (3/11)… Went 2-for-2 with an RBI single and two runs against East Carolina (3/18)… Hit a three-run homer in game one at Fairleigh Dickinson (4/3) and followed with two walks, a run and an RBI in game two… Hit an RBI single and scored a run against Robert Morris (4/14)… Went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI single at Bryant (4/22)… At Central Connecticut State (4/23), hit a triple in game one and went 2-for-3 with two RBI in game two… Had an RBI single and stole a base against Wagner (4/30)… Hit a walk-off single against Robert Morris (5/11) in the first game of the NEC Tournament… Had an RBI single against Wagner (5/12) in the second game of the NEC Tournament and followed with a two-run double against Wagner the next day… Hit a sacrifice fly in SFU’s NCAA Regional win over New Mexico State (5/20)… Went 3-for-4 and scored a run in the NCAA Regional against South Carolina (5/20).

JUNIOR (2016) – Started 56 games at catcher this season… Batted .234 with 29 hits, including 10 doubles and four homers, 22 RBI and 34 runs… Finished the season with an on-base percentage of .455 and a slugging percentage of .411… Drove in two runs in a win against Army West Point(2/12)… Hit a double and scored a run in games against Bucknell(2/19) and East Carolina(2/21)… Launched a three-run homer and scored two runs in a win vs. Cornell(3/12)… The following day, hit a two-run homer and scored two runs… Went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs in a win at Sacred Heart(4/16)… Helped tie an NCAA record in a five-home run inning vs. Bryant(4/23), with a three-run homer.

SOPHOMORE (2015) – Started all 50 games … finished third on the team with a .270 batting average and four home runs … tied for second on the team with two triples … had seven multi-hit games, including a three-hit game against LIU Brooklyn (4/19) and a four-hit game against Quinnipiac (3/20) … tied for second on the team with seven multi-RBI games including a three-RBI game in the season opener against Coppin State (2/13) … had the third longest hitting streak on the team at six games (3/20-25).

FRESHMAN (2014) – Drove in seven runs and had two doubles … Scored 11 runs while making 44 starts in 46 appearances … Went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in a win over Manhattan (3/16) … Recorded 38 putouts and 82 assists while making all but one start at third base.

BEFORE SFU - As a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain of the softball team at Hudson Senior High School, Witthus earned a number of accolades during her time with the Raiders. The 5-6 catcher received all-conference honors three times, and all-district and all-state regards twice. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Witthus was placed on the academic all-conference squad two times as well.
