She got her start in coaching at her alma mater, York College of Pennsylvania, with a two-year stint from July 2020-February 2022. In the classroom, 18 York players were selected to the NFHCA Academic Squad and four earned NFHCA Scholars of Distinction honors.

A four-year letterwinner at York, she was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference second team in 2019, the same season she served as team captain. The Chester Springs, Pa., native notched the game-winning goal against Mary Washington to send the Spartans to the CAC Semifinals in her senior year. Heary also excelled in the classroom after being named to the NFHCA Academic Squad all four years. She served as her Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) vice president in her senior year.
