LEWISBURG, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2008) – The Saint Francis women's golf team hit the links for the first time in the 2008-09 season on Sunday and came away with an eighth place finish in the 12-team field at the Bucknell Women's Invitational.
The Red Flash carded a 339-347-686 in 36 holes on Sunday. Saturday's action was rained out. Penn State won the event with a 313-297-610, Youngstown State (314-305-619) took second, followed by Rutgers (333-309-642), Lehigh (329-318-647) and Bucknell (333-326-659) to round out the top five teams.
Junior
Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio/Padua Francisan) (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) led the way for Saint Francis with a 84-85-169, good for 31st. Sophomore
Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) and freshman
Skylar Hay (Easton, Pa./Freedom) (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) fired identical scores of 84-88-172 to finish tied for 39th, sophomore
Laura Smith (State Line, Pa./Greencastle Antrim) (State Line, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) took 43rd with a 87-86-173, and sophomore
Kaitlin Hensal (Seville, Ohio/Wadsworth) (Seville, Ohio / Wadsworth) shot a 98-88-186 to finish in 61st.
The Red Flash will be idle until Oct. 4-5 when they travel to William & Mary for a two day tournament.
