LEWISTOWN, Pa. - (Oct. 31, 2009) – Kathleen Lyon (King George, Va./King George) (King George, Va./King George) and Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) (Gothenburg, Sweden/Hawaii) each earned first place finishes as the Saint Francis swim team fell to Duquesne 142-120 and Bucknell 210-88 on Saturday on the campus of Bucknell University in Lewistown.

 Newcomers continued to lead the way for the Red Flash, as freshman Lyon won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:27.40.  She also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:12.26.  Yttring earned first place finishes in both the 100-yard butterfly (56.82) and the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:08.75).

The Red Flash 200-yard medley relay team of Elise Merrill (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring), Pierre (Valencia, Pa./Mars), Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y/Whitney Point) (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) and Yttring finished second in the event with a time of 1:50.04.  SFU picked up another second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the quartet of Merrill, Ford, Blair Kosela (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) (Crescent, Pa./Moon) and Melissa Heintz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) finishing in a time of 1:39.85.

Jessica Dunn (Bristow, Va./Seton School) (Bristow, Va./Seton School) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.20.   She also finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.41.

Merrill took second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.93, while Ford was right behind her in third place.   Ford went on to swim to a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle event (54.74).

Abi May (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.20.
