FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team hit .270 and was led by junior Jordan Varee (Conneautville, PA/Conneaut Valley) (Conneautville, Pa. / Conneaut Lake) with 22 kills and a .441 hitting percentage, but IPFW hit .426 and had an 11 to six edge in blocks to defeat the Red Flash 3-0 on Friday night.
Saint Francis fell to 7-5 overall with a 30-23, 30-28, 30-27 loss in Fort Wayne. The Mastodons improved to 7-3 on the season. SFU will return to action with two more matches this weekend. The Red Flash will play Loyola at 8 p.m. on Saturday, before battling No. 12 Lewis at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Senior setter Shane Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) dished out 39 assists and added three kills, junior Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) had eight kills, six digs and a service ace, and junior Patrick McManamon (Huntindon, Pa. / Huntingdon) had three kills, two aces and five blocks.
Darryl Shank hit .463 with a match-high 23 kills for the Mastodons, while Ben Duckworth had 10 kills and three aces, and Corey Stewart had 41 assists.
