MUNCIE, Ind. – Three players finished in double digit kills, but the Saint Francis men's volleyball team fell to Ball State in a 3-1 regular season defeat on Saturday night.
Junior Jordan Varee (Conneautville, PA/Conneaut Valley) (Conneautville, Pa. / Conneaut Valley) had a team-high 15 kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks, junior Pete Freyer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) added 14 kills and four blocks, and junior Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) had 11 kills, nine digs and two blocks in the 30-25, 30-18, 23-30, 30-26 loss.
The Red Flash, who earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming EIVA playoffs, fell to 14-14 overall and will now await its second-round opponent. The Red Flash will play host to the winner of the No. 6 versus No. 7 seed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at DeGol Arena. Tickets for the EIVA playoff match are $5 for adults and $2 for children.
Todd Chamberlain had a match-high 17 kills and hit .389, while teammate Ethan Pheister had 51 assists, for Ball State.
The Red Flash were out-hit .308 to .197 and were out-blocked 14.5 to 9.5.
Senior Shane Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) had 40 assists, and sophomore Markus Schulze (Berlin, Germany / Anne-Frank) added 13 digs.
