Red Flash Avenge Earlier Loss With 3-2 Victory at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team avenged an early season loss and clinched a first round bye in the upcoming EIVA playoffs by handing Princeton a 3-2 defeat on Thursday night.

Junior Jordan Varee (Conneautville, PA/Conneaut Valley) (Conneautville, Pa. / Conneaut Valley) had a match-high 23 kills, a .340 hitting percentage, three blocks and a career-high six service aces in the 22-30, 30-26, 30-26, 22-30, 15-13 win. His six service aces are tied for third-most for a single match in school history, two shy of the school mark.

Junior Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) added 21 kills, a .327 hitting percentage, five digs and two blocks, and senior setter Shane Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) dished out 51 assists. Freshman John Wappler (Warrendale, Pa. / North Allegheny) pitched in with 13 digs, one shy of his season high.

The Red Flash improved to 14-12 overall, and 7-5 in the EIVA Tait Division. They will now take off for the Easter holiday and return to action with a pair of non-conference matches against Ohio State and Ball State, next weekend.

Saint Francis out-blocked Princeton 11-9, and came away with the win despite being out-hit .331 to .301.
