Mountaineers down women’s tennis in first fall match

EMMITSBURG, Md. (Oct. 25, 2010) – The Saint Francis University women's tennis team did their best against a tough Mount St. Mary's squad, but suffered a 7-0 on Saturday evening.

Without the benefit of any pre-match training, the Red Flash struggled to gain momentum, losing all three doubles in straight sets.

The No. 1 team of Juliana Gustavson and Sam Fulchiero lost to the Mountaineers' Emily Bolchoz and Renee Deane, 8-2, while the No. 2 team of Devynn Sarver (Mt. Clemens, Mich./Fraser) and Alex Foty (Oakville, Ontario/Niagara Academy of Tennis) had a tough loss to Kelly Conroy and Sam Pinchoff, 8-0. SFU's No. 3 duo of Caitland Bart and Laura Husband (Dawson, Pa./Connellsville Area) fought hard but at the end fell to MSM's Emma Haley and Carly Landini.

In singles play, all five players struggled to overcome a hard fighting Mountaineers team. The only tough match came from number four singles player Sarver. Sarver rallied in the second set, only to lose in a third set tiebreaker.
