FULL RESULTS

LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2010) – Five pool records were broken on Saturday as the Saint Francis University swimming team turned back Central Connecticut State and Duquesne by scores of 157-110 and 170-91, respectively.  With the wins, the Red Flash improved to 6-1 on the young season.

The Flash started things off fast with a win in the 200-yard medley relay.  The Saint Francis entry of Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasit), Elise Löfgren (Molnlycke, Sweden/Hulebacks), Libby Francis (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy) (Dundee, Scotland/Grove Academy) and Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) improved on their season-opening performance by setting a new pool-record time of 1:48.12.

The swim also ranks as the second-fastest in Red Flash annals.

Yttring set a new pool and personal record in the 200-yard freestyle by swimming a 1:55.17. The time also ranks second on the school's all-time list.

Saint Francis' next new pool record came on an outstanding performance by Ford in the 50-yard freestyle.  Her time of 24.35 was a fraction of a second slower than her personal best set at last season's NEC Championship meet.

Already a school record-holder in the 200-yard butterfly, Francis took the Stokes Natatorium record as well, winning the event with a time of 2:06.36.

Löfgren and Yttring followed suit by winning the 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly, respectively.  Löfgren's time of 2:24.51 and Yttring's 57.26 were both facility marks.  Francis was close behind in the 100 fly, besting her previous mark with a time of 57.87, which ranks second on the SFU top-10 list.

The Red Flash closed out their record-breaking day with one more pool mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  Yttring, Meghan Cotugno (Cape Coral, Fla./Cape Coral) (Cap Coral, Fla./Cape Coral), Melissa Heintz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) and Ford raced to a time of 3:33.94 to win the event by a razor-thin margin.

In other notable performances, Löfgren won the 100-yard breaststroke with a top-10 and personal-record time of 1:07.09 and Ford took the 100-yard freestyle with a swim timing in at 53.31.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Kathleen Lyon (King George, Va./King George) (King George, Va./King George) notched second by swimming a 10:39.83, which ranks as the third-fastest time in SFU history and Megan Collins (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) (Monroeville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) placed second in the 500 free, establishing a new personal record and top-10 time of 5:12.51.

The Red Flash return to action on Friday when they visit Loyola to take part in the two-day Thomas Murphy Invitational.
